I just picked up a built LS head thats milled .60 of a thousandths, i test fitted my DC header but noticed that one side of the flange is not flushed to the head. This is a big problem since the flange is in the way of the block install. heres some pics,
Do i need to grind my header flange or will it line up to the head when i install the head first?
Daniel…got your e-mail, but I’ve been flooded with work from SEMA. We just got our day 4 coverage up. For your header, you are only left with one option: grind the flange down. In order to retain the integrity of your header, I would highly suggest that you send the primary out to a qualified machine shop. At Overboost, we only use one: Johnson’s Machine Service. They are located in Duarte, CA, and their number is 626-357-2718. Send them the images that you have posted here for more clarity.
That head looks like it’s been milled more that six thou’! You might wanna have JMS check the deck height again–the last thing you want to do is get a miscalculation on compression or worse: have one of your valves bang into the piston. A method we ALWAYS use is to “clay” the top of th piston and check valve-to-piston clearance. I hope this helps!
