Ok so I turned on my headlights tonight and they both flickered, did some crazy stuff then went out. I did the 9004 - 9007 conversion about 4 months ago and have had no problems until now. I also have not driven the car very much in the last 2 months. I washed my engine over the weekend and this was the first time I have turned the lights on since. Every other light in or on the car is working just fine, that includes the fogs. I have checked the fuses under the dash and in the engine bay. They were all still good. Can anyone think of some thing else I should be checking? Also do you think it was the conversion or the engine cleaning that killed them? Your assistance is much appreciated.
Check the bulbs.
Oh I forgot to add that in. I checked them and they looked fine but I will check them again tomorrow. I’m just not sure that both would burn out at the exact same time.
Follow your hot and ground to/from your lights. Use a test light and make sure your wires aren’t being shorted somewhere, and that you don’t have a bad ground.
When you say you ‘washed your engine’ what exactly do you mean? Did you wash it with a pressure washer or by hand with a little elbow grease and simple green or the likes?
Is it both the low and high beams, including flash to pass.
You said the fog lights work, is fog light wiring still stock or have you done a rewire so you so they can be turned on without the head lights being on? 94
I pressure washed it. I have done this a lot in the past just never with this car. I have never had a problem before.

It is both high and low including the flash to pass. The wiring for the fogs is still stock.
Could it be a relay issue? Is there a relay after the interior fuse box that could have shorted out? I wont be able to check this stuff until later today but thanks in advance for the help.
No, there is not relay.
If fog lights work then the problem is not the head light switch as fog light switch gets it’s power from left low beam wire after the fuse.
I would test the fuses with a meter or 12V test light, fuse 3 and 4 -10A, should be hot when low beams are on, fuse 9 and 10 - 10A should be hot when high beams are on and when flash to pass is used, all fuses are in under dash fuse box.
If the fuses are good then I would have a close look at the head light “rewiring” and see if you have power to the bulb sockets.
Also check the grounds low and high beam share a common ground, [left and right].
As mentioned, it is very strange that both the left and right sides both went out at the same time, not to mention the high and low beams.
The only thing common to all four is fuse 33 - 50A, [hot at all times] in engine bay fuse box but fog lights would not work if it was blown.94
Ok false alarm :fingban:
I should not work on cars when tired and cranky. I looked at my lights last night and I thought it looked ok. Well I pulled them and after further inspection they BOTH were blown, high and low beams. There must have been a short or something to cause both to go at the same time. Well I put my old 9004’s back in and all is good…for now anyway. Thanks for the help anyway.
