help my key is stuck in the ing

i am sorry if this isnt the right from, but my key is stuck in the ing.i have searched, and all i could find is stuff on cars with auto tranny’s and my car has a manuel so the cable thing wouldnt matter.its stuck in the ass. spot help i need to get this damn key out

I’m assuming you mean it’s stuck in the ignition socket. Is it stuck in a particular position? ACC ? ON? What happened before it got stuck? What were the circumstances?

started the car drove home and now the key is stuck in the acc spot sorry for the run on guys i just spent the last hour in the cold trying to get the key out

u try taking some tension off of the steering wheel by turning it a lil as u try to remove the key?

i tried just about everything and its still stuck and lmao at that ass spot

Push the key in and twist, wiggle the steering wheel if it’s locked…

yea i’ve only heard of this issue happening in vehicles with automatic transmissions… where they forget to put the car in park and try and remove the key. it might come down to it where u’ll need to tap the key inwards, to hopefully loosen it up or whatever. u’re gonna have to be pretty forceful, just don’t twist it too much or u might twist up the key.

this happened to me in an old car i used to have. a '90 corolla. it just started doing it one day, it sucked. i just had to fight with it a lot to get it out, no particular method to it. just turn it back and forth, push it in, pull it out, etc…

and your steering wheel isn’t locked, right?

got it out we used my buddys key to push the ing. in and turned it back and out came

Same issue happened to me a few times with my old teg I put some WD40 on the key and put it in and out of the ignition a few times. This loosened the pins in the lock cylinder and the issue never returned. If this fails you may need to replace the entire ignition switch as it may be worn out.

I have an auto and it happens whenever the temp gets below about 60 degrees. Strange. I have have to keep moving it back and forth until it warms up in the slot to release and come out. I tried spaying WD in it once but I think it made it worse. It’s a real pain but I don’t want to have to replace the switch and have different keys for the ignition and the locks. I’d hate to try driving up to the mountains or in colder climates with this problem.

nahh dude! do this…

turn on ur car.
shake ur shifter in the “P” position (park)
do it until ur gage light “P” flashes.
once the light is on u can pull out ur key

Did you cut the wires or change out the sensor? I want to clip the wires but can’t tell which ones to cut. I posted a photo on your link but haven’t gotten any response. There are 2 sets of 2 wires under the ignition.
