Help Need Your Input!

I have several problems right now but only a couple that I want to ask about . FYI I own a 91 LS Auto.

  1. When I park the (P) on the cluster doesn’t come on and I can’t take the key out unitl till it does. Usually it take a couple minutes to come on after I put it in park. I’ve tried turing off the car and restarting, rocking the car but nothings working. It seems not to do it as much in the warmer weather. Any idea on how to fix?

  2. When turning I hear a clicking noise… at the same speed as I’m driving… I think it’s my CV Joint but not positive, was think of replacing the axle. Any ideas?

I recently dealt with this problem -lookie here

Ok I have solved the problem! I changed the Gear Position Switch and presto its been fixed. And the cost??? A whole $46.xx CDN for the part from the dealer. Time to replace??? 1.5 hrs.

Whilst I was in there, I changed the illumination light bulb, Adjusted the shift cable, and of course changed the Gear Position Switch.

To install: you need to remove the lower dashboard trim from both sides of the car (drivers side and passenger side & possible the glove box-this makes it easier to remove the panel without stressing it.) You also have to remove the radio, ashtray and then finally the center console.

Once in there, look on the right side of the shifter for a white plastic rectangular in shape switch with wires connected to it. You cant miss it!

For the low cost of it and the headaches it causes, its not worth buying a used one.!!!

And change that shifter light bulb while youre in there…and, and…adjust the shifter cable while you’re there too!!!Just pop the clip off, loosen the locknut with a 10 mm wrench, rotate the black cylinder till the holes line up 100% and then put the clip back on. and lock back the lock screw.

Good writeup kneeon

I’ve has this issue, but only when it’s very cold outside.
