Help!!! Quick!!!

I just bought some R1 coilovers ( I know they suck but for $65 new what can you ask for?). I plan on installing them tommorow and I need to know:

#1. What are the 3 holes on the threaded sleeves towards the top for and what do I do with them when installing, adjusting, etc.?

#2. What do I do with the threaded sleeve when installing (i.e. adjust so the threaded sleeve is all the way inside the spring)?

#3. How do you adjust the ride height (there are two female rings with notches on them on the threaded sleeves where the springs rest)?

#4. Do I just remove the entire spring assembelly…, then compress and remove stock spring off of the car ?.., or…compress and remove the spring while still on car? I have haynes manual but I just want to make this clear.

If someone could answer my questions asap that would be awesome because I plan on installing them tommorow morning. Thank you guys:burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

I’ll try to help you out here…

  1. The 3 holes at the top of the sleeve are for the small allen screws to center and secure the sleeve on you shock body.

  2. The sleeve goes over you shock body then secured with the allen screws mentioned above, then your perches go on, then your springs.

  3. The springs rest on the top ring and the bottom ring is used to “lock” the rings so the dont move. They go on top of one another. To adjust the ride height you need to unlock the rings using the spanner wrench and screw the rings up or down to desired height.

  4. Remove the damper/spring assembly from the car then compress and remove.

HTH…

#1 the 3 holes is to secure the sleeve to ur shock body from moving.but u should not have too much of space between them otherwise they r not made for ur car, and not all coil sleeve kit have those holes, some use rubber rings that go inside between the sleeve and shock, and the 3 holes must be the up side

#2 the best thing to do is align the ring of the 4 sleeves at about 3/4 high of or 1/2 way and install them into ur shock coz is always easier to lower it then to rise it.do the ajustment when the installation is done

#3 the bottom ring is to lock the ajustment,so u must loose it then lower or rise the top ring to ur desired level and move the lower ring till it touch the upper ring and tighen them up in a reverse action from the top ring against the lower one with the 2 spanners hook that u suppose to have with the kit,

#4 u must remove the assembly in order to remove the spring.
front:unbolt the 2 14mm that hold the upper mount in the engine bay,and the one that hold the shock body and a 17mm(not sure) that hold the drop fork into the lower arm, after removing then u compress the spring(do with care) and remove the upper mount,u might need an alley key to hold the shock center stroke from moving.

good luck

Thanks alot man, I REALLY apreciate it.

oops…sorry look like somebody is faster then me!

Thanks a ton to you too racer.

I have 2 more questions now…

#5. I also have a bunch of rubber rings that came with it. I understand that they are for fitting in between the threaded sleeve and shock body to secure and center them. Should I use the screws AND rubber rings, just rubber rings, or just screws to secure and center the threaded sleeves to the shock body? (I’d prefer to use just rubber rings if possible).

#6. The spring rates are 450 and 350. Would I be correct in assumming that the 450’s are the fronts and the 350’s are the rears?

Again, I really appreciate your awesome answers guys and I CAN’T thank you enough!!!

i personnally found the rubber rings kinda useless…since it comes in different sizes and hard to find the one the really fit in tight…use both…it wont hurt
ur right,heavier on front
