HELP! Suspension gurus/anyone - Please HELP!!

This is gonna be kinda long since I’m trying to be detailed…

Ok, the other day I got into a bit of an accident in the teg and had to replace the right rear trailing arm. Afterwards, I got an alignment to re-center the steering and get that right rear side straight again. Kinda worked but not back to the way it was. I did need a new tire on that same wheel, which I got done this past Saturday. It was mounted and balanced, which helped a lot, but my steering and tracking is off still.

Here’s the problem as best as I can describe:
(DRIVING) When cruising around town (-50mph) everything seems okay. Nothing too abnormal just a little over-sensitive steering. When on the freeway (65+) the car is fine as long as I’m continually correcting. The car feels “drifty” kinda sliding around over the bumps and stuff. The steering being extra sensitive doesn’t respond well to my corrections and I end up looking like I’m drunk.
(VISUAL) I have 17x7 rims and since having them on, I’ve always had a slight camber issue (// \) Nothing bad, very much like my dad’s Miata has. Anyway, after getting the new parts on, the tire now is perfectly vertical (aligned) with the mudguard/body, whereas the other 3 are still off.

Here’s the bottom line: I’ve got a warrenty on the alignment and I’m going back to them this week to see if they can do anything else. If not, I’m going to go to my mechanic to see if anything else besides the trailing arm was bent. BUT, I want to pick the brains of everyone on here first. PLease help my baby!!!

PS: I searched on here first and came up with “get an alignment” so, any other help would be appreciated!

Thanks

David

I would really quiz the guys that did the alignment to see how they got the rear wheel to sit at 0 camber without a camber kit (unless they know the washer trick…).

But really, it sounds like you should have a camber kit on all 4 wheels?

Good luck at the shop though

rio: thanks for the reply. I’m going back either wednesday or thursday to show them what’s going on and try and explain it to them. Hopefully they’ll come up with something…The camber isn’t so bad since it helps with my handling. I may have to look into it though if it’ll help my car run right again.

C’mon guys help, help, help

BUMP

Geez I’m whoring my own thread…

Um I did some further searching based off Rio’s suggestion and I’m going to try the washer trick to get my rears even then get a camber kit for the front. Will this do the trick? Anyone?

ALso I’m thinking that my fixed wheel is slightly positive // not 0 as I stated earlier. Does that sound right? Maybe the guys at wheel works just messed up. I’ll find out.

Please try and think of anything else that I can try or tell them to do.

David

bump ba da bump bump…

well you said you got into an accident, maybe you bent the frame of the body and thats why your wheel has less camber than the other three. check to see if any part of the body is bent where you got into an accident. lower control or upper control arms could have been bent? take it to a body shop and see if the frame was bent or not.
