Help : Timing Belt is moving : searched!

Hey Fellas. When I took my valve cover off the other day I noticed that the belt was about a quarter of the way off the gears. I was able to just slide it back to its place with no problem which means it’s a little loose. Obviously the belt won’t come completely off because of the valve cover, but is there anything I need to tighten? replace? fix? Thanks for the help!!!

Maybe your timing belt tensioner is loose?

belt might be stretching due to age also. you should get it checked.

just put on a new belt and tensioner, no more problem.

Behind the lower cover, there are two concave washers on both sides of the crank gear that guide the belt and keep it in proper alignment. I don’t know if a loose belt will cause it to creep out like that, but I would definitely look and see what is going on. Timing belts are too important to your engines health to take chances.
