Yo, i’ve had a leak now for some time and i’m really stressed out about this. It is from what I have determined coming from the right rear upperside of the car. It will some how collect water above the headliner (I think) and will drip down when braking or accelerating. And when I let it set for a couple of hours in the rain, it will get water in the trunk and on the right side of the back seat. I have beefed up the hatch gasket, I have siliconed the gromet for the hatch wires, I have siliconed around the hatch hinges. This thing still gets water inside of the right rear portion of the cabin.
My car has a moon roof (doesn’t slide like a sun roof, it just flips up), therefore there are, or at least from what I can see, no water drain tubes.
This is very depressing. I really need help with my car. Not to mention, it is really embarassing. Please help me!
the thing id do is remove the headlight and the rear interior, so everything is exposed, and run ur garden hose the car and let the water run over the roof and maybe see where the leak is coming from
I’m assuming you removed the “headliner” not the “headlight” :giggle:
Check the tailights. especially if they have been removed and re-installed without changing the gaskets, they are a common source for leaks into the hatch area.
Worse comes to worse, do what ^^^^ suggested.
Climb into the hatch, and have a friend douse the car with a garden hose until you get an idea where it’s coming in through.
hahhaha yeah the headliner, and also 1ntegra said, the taillights is also a source of the problem.
if u have an aircompressor, u can douse the car with water and spray air through all the cracks and roof and that can also show u where the leaks are, thats wat i did with my older integra
I had this problem too, and it was coming from the windshield, running down the headliner, and into the back seat from the b pillar. Pull down the right side headliner, if the windshield is leaking at the front it will leak to anywhere in the car. You’ll see where the water has stained the headliner, just follow it. Oh, yeah… now:dance: your havin fun
B16gs, you make a really good point and i’ll have to look into it SOON. But where at on the windshield? The things that I found which are listed throughout this post and what you are saying may both be contributing to my problem. I say this because I one time eased the headliner down and felt the surface of it and it was damp. Then again, I would like to know where on your windshield it was leaking? I have a crappy spot on the top right corner of my windshield where the trim pieces come together. I wonder if this is the same place that yours was leaking?
I think that I finally found the problem (leak). We took the interior apart on the right rear portion of the car just enough to sneak the headliner down a little, and we used a big garden hose to hose down that portion of the car. The man on the inside noticed water seeping in at the top of the window. In this particular place of the window, the water was able to enter the cabin and was able to travel down a ledge and reach the trunk (underhatch, ha ha!) and the backseat. However, i’m 99% sure that this is the problem.
Theory of how the right rear passenger window was leaking at the top:
I think that the trim that is snapped onto the outside edges of the window has a gasket that is effectively used to keep water away from where the window mates against the body. This gasket was in a “crumbled” or cracked from hardness condition which allowed water to set on top of the window glass mating point with the body. So all the water needed was a way to get in between the window and the body. It actually found its way through by means of a clip that holds the window trim into place. This clip has what appears to be a gasket on the backside of it. It seems as if the water seeped around the clip. This is why I am 99% sure that this was the culprit. However, the observer within the car feels that the rate at which the water was entering the cabin, that it’s definitely possible that this particular leak point is what has been filling up my trunk and backseat with water.
Thanks to all that replied. I really appreciate your concern.
I got a leak in the back seat and in the trunk of my DA, I’m planing to check the sun roof drain since people have been saying stuff about the sun roof drain hose. Well, my question is which parts of the car should I remove in order to check that?
sorry for bringing back an old thread!!! but i like it oldschool anyways. =D
hey i have same problem.i have a swimming pool in my trunk…i’m just wondering let’s say if an idiot like me…took out my tail lights and only tightened it with one nut on one side and 2 nuts on the other side…lol would that most likely be the reason for the leak in my car?
