i just did a oil change a month ago and while driving last night the oil light ws flashing, i checked my oil and it ws empty.I put another liter of 10w 30 synthetic for now.I think i used 5w 30 when i did the oil change. Is 10w 30 beter? Which one is thicker, is it the 10w 30.I don’t notice and oil leaks in the engine nor on the ground. Why is it drinking oil so fast.any help is appprecited
could be a lot of things, valve seals could be worn
piston rings…
your sump could be leaking as well
Check for visible leaks.
If you don’t see anything, have a buddy follow you and watch for blue smoke.
If you get a puff of blue at startup it’s your valve seals.
If you get blue at high rpms/wot it’s probably your rings.
Do a compression test. If you get a large variance between cylinders something is definitely wrong. My LS read about 200 psi across the board for each cylinder, which is pretty high for an LS (my CR is a bit higher than stock)… I can’t remember what stock LS’s should read.
If you have a low cylinder, put a bit of oil in that cylinder. If the reading goes up alot your rings are bad.
If you still can’t pinpoint the problem after the test, do a leakdown test. Any shop should be able to do this, and this should pinpoint where your problem is.
Either way you are probably going to be spending a bit of money.

whichh is the better oil to use, 10w 30 or 5w 30.I use wynthetic oil as well. But that’s wired taht my oil runs out so fast and like i said i don’t see any visible oil leaks
if you’re losing oil, synthetic will worsen the problem.
10W30 non synthetic is what you should use.

So synthetic oil is a waste for me.I have 215 thousand kmh on my engine.I swear i tried just regulas castrol gtx 10w 30 and my car felt sluggish. So you thin regulas castrol will be fine
Our G2’s eat oil…
I usually keep an eye on the oil level every second time i fill up my tank…
HTH…
Don’t forget to check the oil pan seal!
so since there is no oil in my car can i simply buy a liter or two and put it in or do i need a whole oil change again.Like i said i just had a oil change a month ago
You can just add, and change your filter at regular intervals.
But I wouldn’t recommend doing that for very long – find out what the problem is ASAP and get it fixed. The longer you leave it, the more damage it will do.
did you check the oil right after the car ran. you usually want to wait about 20 minutes for the oil to settle in the pan. my car burns a little oil, its called “blow-by”. when your engine is at higher rpms (5000+), then you may get ring flutter, the piston rings move away from the cylinder wall (not by much) and oild gets through to the valvetrain. this is really not a bad thing because it helps lubricate the valves. i use the castrol semi-synthetic at 5w30. this is what i have always used and what honda recommends. do as you please. but, do take it to a good mechanic and ask them what they think. if it is something worn and you cannot spend the extra money for your motor to be torn down, try to drive a little easier. otherwise you will make the problem worse, sooner.
