First of all im sorry for the terrible quality pics, i had to use my phone and i was in a hurry so bear with me please.
Ok so im wanting to convert my car to power doorlocks. The car is an LS, so i only have power windows. I bought a setup from a fellow member and im not sure if its complete or even how to install it properly. I have both doorpanels with both the doorlock and window switch sets.
Actuators, not even sure they work.
Door handles
These things, the one was missing the rods, guess ill have to bend new ones.
This random piece
Harness with the lock control module, i have 2 module boxes so hopefully one of them is good.
I am glad that you are doing this. I am doing the exact same thing to my 91 ls. I have all the same parts except for lock control module. I have couple sets of switches (the door panel switch), a couple of actuators, and the door harness. I was hoping that I could just swap out the door harnesses and just add the actuators, but now seeing you have a lock control module, I assume that I will have to find one of these too and install that as well. Does anyone else have any opinion?
ive done this before. that almost looks like what i sold a few years back when i parted my old teg. hit me up on aim or email. ill let you know whatever you need to know
yes you need the module to do it like oem. you also need the cabin harness. after getting the cabin harness you have to extract the wires from just the power lock system. mostly white and yellow like his pic shows. well you dont have to but unless you wanna swap the entire harness all the way back to the taillights
Yea, i couldve went the aftermarket routeā¦ i did the same thing with the doorlocks last year cuz i had broken switches. So now i have the opportunity to replace everything, including the butchered harnesses and i got all the parts at a really good price.
So do i have everything i need? I guess i can start by mounting the lock module, actuators, new handels etc. and running the new door harnesses.
looks like you got it all. dont know what the 2 blue wires with the ring is for. i ran mine under the dash. there is a black ground wire on each side. put rings on them and ground them with the other grounds behind the side kick panels. look around youll see 1-2 blk wires bolted to the body. passenger side by the seatbelt module, driver side somewhere near the fuse box. there is a white connector with 3wires, 2 cut - this goes to the bottom of the fuse box on the right along with the 2 wires will replace whats on your car now. so cut the connector of your car and solder and shrink wrap these in. (pull the carpet back. match the wires). this is for power. the blue connectors of course goes through the door jambs good luck with that lol. the module bolts together with the fuel relay behind the metal driver kick panel. as for the door that prety straight foward. i swear the hardest part of all this is the damn blue connectors. If i had to do it again i would just remove the fenders cause i would have finished faster. but if your slow at removing a fender then forget that. GL
The cars stripped down so no worries getting those plugs through the doorjambs. Wouldnt be the first time i dealt with it, I got a few tricks for that. Are you sure those connectors go through the door grommets though? I figured since its OEM, the only thing passing through there is the connector between the door harness and chassis harness. There doesnt look like theres enough wire to get to the door from the lock module, and the wires werent cut so theyre OEM length. What could the possibly plug into in the door, everything in the door already has a plug on the door harness.
the driver side will be a tight fit. yuo know how oem leaves no slack lol. the blue connectors fit the white connectors that are there like a key. that harness looks exactly like the one i sold so i know it will fit. in the door jamb on the door there is a connection like couplings(guess ill call it that), unplug it and you will see where it plugs in. there is a spot for the blue connector . these are tricky to unplug from the inside of the door. once you exchange the door harnesses you will see
