Help with removing front lower control arms

Hey guys,

I’m trying to remove my front lower control arms to have them sandblasted & painted, etc. However, i haven’t been able to remove them.

The bolt that holds the control arm onto the rear crossmember will not come off for me. I’ve gotten it to a certain point where it turns but doesn’t continue to come out…not sure what to do here and I would like to have these out soon. The only thing that holds them in is that bolt (on both sides this has happened).

What do you guys suggest?

Get a open end wrench just big enough to put behind the head of the bolt and hammer it out.

is it seized to the bushing? or does it just need to be knocked out?

try using some vice grips or channel locks

It’s looking like it’s seized to the bushings. the bushing just spins along with the bolt but neither goes anywhere. This seems like such a trivial problem that’s got me stumped… :frowning:

oh if the bushings turning, the bolt’s seized to it. you’ll have to cut the bolt on both sides of the bushing to drop the lca out. you can use a cut-off wheel or torch

right. Looks like i’m on the right path with cutting then lol. Thanks man.
