HELP with Temp Gauge

Hey all… Lookin to replace my totaled 91 Teg GS with a 92… only prob with this one is that for some reason whenever there’s power in the lines (car off… break pedle down… or car on anytime) the temp gauge shoots all the way up… car is runnin at a fine temp… what does this mean?! anyone seen this before? ciao…

Bad sender in block or sender wire is shorted to ground.? Those are the only things that I can think of. Disconnect the sender wire from the sensor on the passangers side of the head . It is a single wire that is about in the center lower part of the head.
If the guage does not go up then the seder is bad.
If it does go up then the sender wire is shorted to ground.

check your grounds!!! 90% of the time that is the problem…my temp guage was doing the same thing and it was a bad ground

Hmm… new info… car deck wuz stolen at one point… the ground is probably the problem… did you have similar problem cuz of the stereo… or did you physically find the ground of the temp gauge n’ fix that? if thats what ya did… which wire am i lookin for??? heheh

Temp sender?

theres many grounds it could be…but id check your main chassis grounds first. mine was actually the one off the negative battery terminal that was messed up

Did you hafta clean it off ro what?
