So my passenger side window on my 2 door got busted out and I just put some new glass in there. Getting it in the door and bolted up wasn’t too hard. My problem now is I can’t for the life of me get it to go up and down smoothly. It makes all sorts of rubbing/scratching noises while it’s moving and moves very slowly. Yet I can’t really see anywhere that is catching or rubbing too much. It takes like 30 seconds or more just to roll up. I marked everything when I took the old window out and put the new glass back in as close to original as possible. So what gives? How do I get it to move smoothly again like before it got shattered? I spent like 2 hours today messing with it and nothing really helped.
Did youi clean the broken glass out of the tracks (front and rear)? Did you make sure that the rear brackets are in the track?
Yes, the windows are on track and I cleaned the glass all out. I spent hours getting every little glass bit out of the door. I didn’t wipe out the old grease from the tracks though, could a little bit of glass dust in the grease make this big a difference?
Make sure the tracks that are connected to the window are in the tracks on the door…I have fixed so many freakin windows on these cars…always have problems…
Are there certian grooves in the tracks the window needs to be in or something? I mean the tabs in the window are obviously in the tracks, just not sure how percise it needs to be. I don’t see anything like that but I’m not sure.
The old window never went up and down very fast to begin with, but it now takes way longer with added rubbing/scratching noises. It pretty much comes to a dead stop about half way up but if I keep my finger on the button it will eventually go all the way up.
Also, I’m getting a whistlening sound when driving over about 40mph. The window looks like it is sealed all the way around and I can’t feel any air coming in anywhere, but I can definitely hear it. Not sure if that is just becasue I have the door panel off and wind might be coming through the door somewhere or if it is actually the window even though it looks like it has a good seal.
???
So no one has any suggestions at all? I’ve been messing with this stupid thing for the past week and it has not got any better. I’ve even taken the window out and put it back in numerous times and nothing. I assume it is just way out of adjustment but no matter what I try it doesn’t get better at all.
Any ideas at all? I’m getting ready to just bring the damn car to the dealership or something and see if they can fix it for me. But I’m sure it would cost alot so I would really like to try to get this this working properly myself.
the windows never gona b the same wen they busted it prob bent something or threw it off a lil bit ive had all my windows bashed in several times (haters ) and as for the whistling the windows prob not completely sealing my windows u got a roll thenm up n dwn like three times to seal and try grease inside the tracks
one suggestion would be, call your local window repair shop and just ask them. they mess with windows everyday so im pretty sure you will get a pretty good answer to your problem. or drive to one and just show them what the problem is and what would they recommend you doing to fix it. good luck tho bro.
