Helping others with MPG issue

So if you were getting terrible gas mileage like I was . Be sure to check the following

  1. Fuel pressure regulator an fuel filter
  2. Spark Plugs an Gap, should be .44 I believe
  3. 02 sensor, they do go bad their 30+ year old cars haha
  4. If your car is Automatic check egr passages.
  5. My Case a clogged catalytic converter , take it off super easy an hold it to the sky an try to look through it. If you can see through it just fine no problem if you can’t I just hollowed mine out :joy:.
  6. Tire pressure
  7. PCV
  8. Clogged return line
  9. Air filter or on stock da intake tubes they have a secondary filter on top 4, 8mm bolts I believe. Found that mine was absolutely terrible.
  10. Distributor Cap an rotor.

Basic maintenance stuff makes these cars run forever , an over 30 years you have to expect something small to happen.

The “secondary” air filter was only on the 92-93 models. Unfortunately there’s no replacement. I was thinking about just capping that off, or using a foam filter cut-to-size.

Sorry for the thread bump but, there’s a secondary air filter on 93 models? Is it possible to delete or bypass?

It’s on the stock air box. It’s about a 2 x 3 inch rectangle held in by two bolts. Hard to miss it.
