Hershey Kiss shaped Sensor on back of block

There’s a weird Hershey Kiss shaped sensor plugged into the back of my b18a. I can’t seem to get it off. I already pulled the wires out of it trying to pull it off, now I definitally can’t get it off the block. Anybody know what this sensor is and how to remove it?

art, thats the engine oil pressure switch. You can just use a screwdriver or something to try and pry the “hersey kiss” off of it. then you have access to removing the sensor from the block (i used a 24mm socket…however 23mm might fit better).

oh, you can find the sensor in your helms manual: 8-3

hope that helps.

Bringing this thread back from the dead!

Is there a trick to removing this sensor? While I can fit a socket on it, I can’t seem to get enough room to get the wrench on there to remove it. Does anyone have any tips? I’m working from the underside. I haven’t tried removing any other components that may get in the way because it seems like it’s simple. Can’t help but wondering if I’m missing something.

Turns out that the contact surface of the sensor was really worn down / corroded. That made it really difficult to get off there, but there wasn’t any trick.
