Hey from New Zealand

Hey guys

I don’t know how I have not come across this forum before! haha looks awesome.

anyway i have owned my da for about 7 years. it used to be my daily driver but after doing a lot of crewing for race teams i thought it was about time to take it off the road and turn it into a dedicated track car, the engine is still a b16a has the usual itr head, cams lightened rods, lightened crank ect nothing to crazy but hopefully enough for a bit of fun.

I am half way through building the cage but i keep changing my mind on things and its taking a bit longer than i would of hoped but i guess good things take time

any questions feel free to ask

Im not sure what else to say so here are a few pictures to do the talking for me

Really really cool! I drop mine off for a cage to be built tomorrow. Such a clean engine bay!

Welcome! Cheers!

Welcome! Nice car and I’m glad you finally found the forum!

Really digging the yellow !

Nice to see another track guy  I’m loving those door bars, I don’t think I’ve ever seen them done like that with the S bend. Have you welded in the bars from the main hoop to the bar between the shock towers yet? You may want to look into it, but I think the preferred method is to tie them in at the shock tower, not perpendicular to the bar that spans the shock towers. Having all the bars meet at the shock tower should be the strongest design.

Not the best pic, but this sorta illustrates what I’m talking about:

thanks for all the kind words!

thanks for your input Colin, and they aren’t welded in yet just tacked in. the only reason they are were they are is because of were my front lateral bars meet the main hoop and so the back stays look like l l instead of / \ if you get what I mean? but I can always see what it would look like as i can see what you mean about the strength side of things. and would make it easier fitting a harness bar too  i do like your side intrusion bars! very nice, what are you building your car for?

Looks really good! Welcome!
