Hello, im new here and just getting into cars.
my family’s full of car enthusiast. soooo. anyways.
im 18 and i worked my butt off at my job and saved up some cash.
i picked up this Rebuilt B17A1 DA9, not sure if its a original GSR or not. but the seller said it was.
anyways.
heres a couple pictures of my car, rite now its in a bad shape, i recently got into a car accident on the freeway, there was traffic, it sped up to about 50, next thing you know this lady slams her breaks, i slam mine, my tires are going out and my brakes arent so good either, my front tires spun, and long story short i slid rite into her butt. she left with a tiny scratch, and i left with a ugly mess, my passenger side original jdm headlight is smashed up, and my hood buckled.
but heres a couple of before it got into the accident.
dang that sucks what happen. but one way to find is look in your vin if it starts with jh4db2 then its a gsr if it starts with jh4da9 then its a non gsr. by the look in the pic it looks like a da9 cause of the driver mount. I could be wrong but let us know.
Welcome! That really sucks about the accident. From the pics it does look like a GSR but you’ll need to confirm with the VIN since everything we can see in those pics can easily be swapped onto another model. Since it sounds like you’re pretty new to these cars here are a few things I noticed from the pics:
Front bumper has “plugs” for where the front license plate usually mounts. These are rare and valuable, if you need to replace the bumper due to the accident be sure to keep these plugs as long as they aren’t damaged. Unfortunately it also looks like someone just screwed the front plate into the plastic of the bumper cover :bang:
Rear hatch was painted at some point in time, the holes for the emblems appear to have been shaved as well.
Hard to tell, but the car might have an RSR exhaust. If it does you should know these are quite sought after, often touted as the best exhaust out there for this car. It’s no longer in production, so if it’s an RSR you’re very very lucky.
You’re missing your battery tie down, you should replace it ASAP.

let me get in on this though,
You have no ABS from what i can tell in the bay lol
oh and the exhaust can be a greddy sp1 also, from what i can see on the tip.
^Yup, and acura_madness has a good point about the engine mount as well - hard to tell for sure but it does look like the wrong style of mount which would indicate it’s not a GSR. Overall more signs point to it NOT being a GSR than it being one - so just to clarify when I said “looks like a GSR” I meant it physically looks like one from the exterior (painted moldings + wing with the brake light) not that I thought it was one.
Rims are Racing Hart Type c get the center caps for them there nice wheels An you are kinda local to me as I work in Richmond maybe Ill see you on 80 as I pass thru Hercules to an from work lol
Nice clean car it looks similar to the one I saw at CL last year but priced a little high for my range. Hope you fix the damaged part.
Hi darussian one remember the db shell? I got the rear visor from the guy just missing two brackets 1 for the middle and 1 for the side last time I talked to the owner he’s letting the shell go for 500 the green one is mostlt complete without the engine.

sucks because i barely make enough cash to repair anything because of other bills i also need to pay.

Easiest way to tell if it’s an original GSR… Is the vin, If it starts with JH4DB2 it’s a GSR, JH4DA9 and it’s just a regular DA9… I can go deeper in to if it’s an LS, RS or GS. But since there’s no ABS (could of been removed) it probably will just be an LS.
If the damage is as minor as you make it sound, as just the hood and headlight you can get a 3 piece headlight and hood from pick and pull in oakland. Download the app ROW52 and it’ll give you a list of the cars in the immediate area… But most likely your radiator support took a nice hit too which requires some welding or pulling. Good luck.

Mehh. Gonna order me stanley one pieces and a oem style cf hood
Was gonna do the cf hood sooner or later and its as much as a new hood
Cant have mixmatching body parts and what not on my baby. Just my personality
Just gonna set me back from my performance mods for a while. As for the radiator support we’ll see, im gonna have my brother look at it, hes a very skilled mechanic.

Not a GSR unless someone did an ABS delete. Can not tell if the rear hatch glass has the holes for the third brake light or not ( could have been swapped if it does not).

They are still available from the dealership as I got one there last year. Also if the drivers side one piece isn’t damaged I may be interested in buying it from you to help fund the repairs, my drivers side met a deer at about 50 mph…

i doubt its a original because the b17a1 is swapped and completely rebuilt and the previous owner got everything bar’d with codes.

Should be sitting under, nothing a hammer cant fix for now since
My brother just took a hammer to it to straighten it a bit
Found a new white hood pretty cheap, should be installing that tommorow
