Hi-temp paint that doesn't burn off?

Anyone know of some good high temp paint that doesn’t burn off? I just made a new exhaust for my car and am trying to make it look like it’s stock or at least make it to where it’s not noticeable. Oh and it’s full 2.5" with mandrel bends and its super quiet.

I don’t have a specific brand for you, but just get the highest heat rating you can find. That should do it. There has to be somethin’ out there, cause RSR uses paint. :burnout: :manual:

yeah i know it does, thats actually the system i tried to duplicate, and i am very happy with the results and it only cost $200 to make.

So you do welding/ fab? Any way you could make me a 2.25 exhaust like yours & mail it out? Got pics 1st? I have a 93LS 5-speed 2dr. w/ the stock
B18a1 in it. :burnout: :manual:

to tell you the truth this is what i learned to weld on. before i had no previous experience with welding. my cousin knows how to weld and always told me hed teach me. well one day my stock exhaust finished rusting off so i showed up at his house with a bunch of mandrel bends from summit. little did i know he only had TIG and ARC welders at home. long story short, i TIGed the whole thing, it took forever and a day and was a great learning experience. but i cant say i am anywhere near the level of skill to do it for someone else. sorry

I took the same route (well, not exactly - I had a local shop fabricate something from different stainless steel components). I then spray-painted everything back-of-the-cat with semi gloss hi-temp rust paint (Tremclad, from the same makers of Rustoleum). Darn thing is as hard as rock and has not flaked-off in the past two years (didn’t prep the stainless by the way - no scuffing, etc.). Just make sure to paint in thin coats. Paint and let dry, paint and let dry etc. Flat paint looks “too flat”. Semi Gloss seems to be closer to the shade and shine used by the branded ones.

VHT makes some very good high temp paints. They sell them at AutoZone.

i used flat black paint on my exhaust tip and it is regular paint from OSH on sale for 99 cents and its still holding up

BBQ paint!! for flat black it works awesome!
