I bought 2 sets of hids, (H3 for fogs, and 9004 single beam for headlights) and only my foglights work
I switched around the ballast’s and theyre not the problem, and i doubt that both bulbs are gonna be blown. for the fogs i had to cut the harness and wire in the red and black wires, but for the factory headlight harness theres 3 wires and my HID’s only have 2. Does anybody know which wires i have to splice
Thanks!
on your main headlights you dont need all 3 of your pins. it should have came with a housing you snap the pins in. you only need 2. you need 1 red one not for sure i can look if you want on mine i think its the solid red. and the one black one. do trial and error. red on the left and black in middle … red on right black in middle… etc i did it this way and they have been working for 3 months perfect now… an no need to splice it will connect into your oem wire housing thing where ur bulb goes
The HID kit came with the harness that plugs into my factory harness, but it doesnt work.
How do I switch around the wires without splicing the wires?
Thanks
HID Headlights not working
i dont think any splicing is needed. try to get the red and plug it in the left side , and black in middle and turn lights on (plug in your cars harness first not the one that came with the hid’s). if it dont work do it vice versa. i no you have 2 red ones so your gonna have to do a bit of testing till they turn on.only 1 red is needed too. it took me a bit but this is what i did. i no for sure itll work thats what i did then when i found the working ones i plugged the wires into the harness that came with them. cuz once you plug them into the harness it came with its really hard to get it out they click in. i no for sure you wont use the right side of the harness you will only fill left and middle with a wire. hope its helping lol.
3 wires:
Power Lo
Power Hi
Ground
so if your lights are not working try flicking to hi beam, if they work then switch your power wires around
Just Installed HIDs myself
I was told to disable my Daytime running lights (Canada)before i installed mine, so I did and they have worked fine, If you are going to splice into the factory harness I would recommend Metering the leads on the factory harness to figure out which is high and low, Black should be the ground but you could also use the frame for a ground aswell.
To Disable Daytime running lights, I found the DRL relay in the passenger side kick panel and cut and capped the power lead to the lights, I believe it was a thick (bout 14-16 guage) red and white wire, so the relay still operates but does not send power to the lights. There are two connectors on the relay, a 5 pin and 3 pin. The red and white wire is on the 3 pin connector and is larger wire than the other connector. I was told my lights would not work properly because DRL get less voltage and the HID ballast will eventually burn out. Ballasts do not like under voltage.
Hope this helps
