I have a pair of Halo Projector headlights by eagle eye, and i was wondering on switching the bulbs out for HID lights. Has anyone done it? does it look good? IS there any modification that i would need to consider in doing this?
I believe there are no modifications needed for stuffing the HID bulbs in the projectors… just make sure you get the right size which is 9004.
I dont know about that some projector headlights switch your origional bulds to H3s. My brother had ordered the projector headlights for his 94 Accord and we ended up having to use h3s.
please dont do that…
the projectors that come on those aftermarket headlights are already sub-par… and sticking in an HID kit will just make the light scatter, hotspotting and will cause glare problems.
the proper way to do it with the best output & cutoff is to always use HID projectors that are meant for HIDs.
if you don’t want to spend that much money on a retrofit, just get some stock headlights or JDM headlights and put an HID kit in there…
but not on an aftermarket ebay headlight.
tilegend is right. I have seen Das around here with Hids in projector ebay headlights and they do blind you because of scattered light. I have had 9007 Hid kit in my Jdm 1pcs for about 2 months and only got flashed twice by other cars so I guess mine arent that bad.
the stock 3-piece are pretty horrid with the glare with HIDs, I can’t imagine any projectors would be any worse.
Does anyone actually make a headlight for the DA with an actual projector low-beam yet?
everybody seems to hate the projectors…i honestly like them i dont know why everyone else hates them probably because everyone does them with other cars
i’m actually gonna cheap out and am going to use the projectors from a set of halo projectors to do an hid mod on some ebay black housing headlights. a few days ago, i got the projectors out of the housing and plugged in my h3 hid kit. since the projector housing is open (between the reflector and the projector lens) light was scattering every which way. however, after covering it up, i noticed that the projectore make a very pronounced cutoff. if you are planning on using those lights, i would still open them up and seal off the area i talked about with aluminum foil or a piece of an aluminum can and maybe add more material to the bottom of the glare guard in between the lense and the bulb (you’ll see what i’m talking about if you decide to open them.
I opened them by throwing them into the oven for about 8 minutes at 160 degrees
think i could see some pics of what you did?
i too am retrofitting my ebay headlights. ebay smoked housing one pieces. apexcone h4 hid kit with d2s jumper harness and bulbs at 5000k, rx330 projector housings. io’l post pics when i get it done.
thx much
Well if you’re getting a lot of glare from the HID’s… you can try this to minimize the glare…
i’ll try to do the same. i don’t think i can rig them up to light as it is raining!
here’s a link to my setup. i am using hid h3’s in some ebay projector housings.i just relocated the projectors to the outside of the headlight.
