hey, im new here, tried searching but all i could find was pictures of cars with hid’s, i was just given a 92 integra and the lights arent the greatest, im looking to put hids in the fogs and soon the headlights like i have on my mustang, i was just wondering if there is any clearence issues with the foglights and fitting a hid bulb in there, projectors are coming soon, just looking to make it brighter for now
putting hids in the fogs will do nothing but melt the housings. if you want to do something with the fogs like change the color of the bulb buy either the yellow capsules or PIAA bulbs. anything else will burn too hot and also melt the housing… i am speaking from experience…
putting HIDs in the headlights will work out ok. the light pattern will be crap and you will be a nuisance to the other drivers but the road will be brighter by a little bit. if you want to maximize the use of an hid bulb in a halogen housing then retrofit a projector or buy aftermarket headlights with projectors built in…
I’m going to say stay away from HIDs in reflector housings for the sake of anyone driving towards you. If you want more lumens you can do the 9004 to 9007 bulb conversion to get more light out of a halogen bulb.
hids
i am currently running 9004 hids in the refelctor housings with the top of the housings/ fog assembly tinted. (eyebrow style) helps with the glare:ghetto:,be warned with regular PNP hid kits you will loose your high beams but IMO best setup is clear housing and good quality projector retrofitted in the housing. I had bixenon g35 projectors for high/low and blazer style fog projectors with amber bulbs until a friend of mine wrecked my G2 and destroyed the last setup in the wreck it was a great.
Problem now is finding the aftermarket one piece headlights to open/retrofit. anyone else having problems finding replacement headlights or is it just me?
