HID Retro

Ken (the owner) approached me a while ago to do an HID retro for him, everything is mounted and aimed, I’ll be sealing them up over the weekend.

Specs:
Lexus AFS Projectors with a lens spacer
E46-R Shrouds
Phillips 85122+ Bulbs
Ebay 1 piece headlights
35W Ballasts

Separating the Ebay headlights, by far the hardest headlight I’ve ever pulled apart.

Reflector bowl out, bulb center line marked and cut lines marked.

First cuts made.

Here’s what the beam looks like with the spacer. It’s not mounted in a head light, just sitting in my engine bay.
Some really nice blue, purple, green in the cut off.

Here’s the lights mounted on the car and the projectors mounted.

Got the shrouds all trimmed, the mess left in my kitchen.

Mounted the shrouds on the projector.

Stuck on the ‘Xenon’ stickers.

All sealed up again.

Some shots with both the fogs and HIDs on. Looks similar to the 94-01 JDM ITR headlights imo.

Lights will be mounted on car on Thursday.

Questions, comments, etc. Fire away!!

You should post them in this thread.

Didn’t notice that one, posted a picture there too!

sweet! wish you lived in socal… i want my one-piece retro fitted

so what would the price be one something like that. provided i shipped you my headlight housings (same as pictured)

Damn those look great. Im also interested on a price

Question? where did you get the Lexus ASF projectors from. I want to do a retrofit on my IS as Lexus did not sell the car with just an HID option they included it a 5k premium package option.

this place sell them…

damn i wanna do this! Would you be willing to do anymore? I have a set of g35s and crossfire shrouds…lmk if you could and a price at Bryanbornhem at yahoo.com

Why don’t you do it yourself? The hardest part is mounting the projectors. A little creativity and time at the hardware store goes a long way. I’ve been thinking of making a mounting plate that utilizes the factory adjustment points. Its a little tricky though, becuase rotation has to be perfect and you need room for adjustment. If I figure out a good mounting method, I’d consider doing retros for people.

for me, adjusting the rotation is real easy…i found that the best method of mounting/adjusting the rotation was to use “L” brackets and installing washers underneath the bracket to move the rotation.

here’s a picture of how i mounted the projector(i was lucky, i didn’t have to use any washers because the bottom of the reflector bowl is perfectly leveled)

to me, the most difficult part of doing any type of retro-fit is taking apart the lens which is pretty easy as well. now in my case, since the 2nd gen integra headlights are so narrow, i would say the hardest part of doing the retro was making the projector fit inside the reflector bowl because the projector is bigger.

None of the pics showing!

I have the same headlights, I would also like a price quote for doing these to my housings, ill pay shipping both ways.

Sorry guys, haven’t been on here in a while because I moved to a new province so I’ve been crazy busy.

Matt @ TRS supplies me with all my parts.
These lights have no rotation adjustment, I made sure it was perfect to begin with.

I’m not sure if it’s against forum rules, so if it is, sorry, but if you want to ask me any questions about doing a retro please email me at autoillumination@gmail.com
