HIDs in JDM Headlights! YES!!!!!!!!

lilrickps2 No sir I’m saying that a lot of “fakers” come on here saying that they have done whatever the hot new conversion is but then when its time to put up pictures they fade into the crowd.

white92LS531 true HID’s are projectors.
what you have are just a high kelvin rating bulb and a ballast to power it. if i understand correctly the projector puts focus on the beam. you have none

Ok well in response to:

Ok, I finally got my JDM Headlights from E-Bay, they are awesome, went to turn em on after wiring and install, and 1 Low beam is out. So I am not a patient man and didn’t want to wait to order new bulbs.

I had a set of H4 HIDs sitting around the house, so I figured I would MAKE em fit.

I used H4 HIDs that are basically just a narrow bulb with a plastic round base glued on that makes em fit the H4 mounting, so I ground that down to a 30mm Diameter so they were the same size around as a H4H Base.

Then I dis-assembled the H4H Bulbs themselves, removed the bulb, wire tabs and plastic tab base so all I had left was the actual mounting ring with tubular base and slid it over the back of the HID Base, it matched up perfectly and the lighting capsule is in the exact location of where the old filiment would have lined up. I then used High Temp Industrial Epoxy and glue the bases in place.

So, after 2 hours of messing with everything, it’s done, and the light output is Amazing. Since the bulb is in the right spot, depth wise, the light cutoff is perfect and not blinding like a lot of H4H to H4 Conversions I have heard of. And no modification to the Headlights was needed.

So, I took no pictures on how to do this, so does anyone in Washington with JDM Headlights want to purchase a set of HIDs and let me Modify them to fit for you? In return I will take pictures and show everyone else how to do it, you get free labor outta me.

Let me know if i have any takers.

I was simply showing a picture of what people were requesting, which was H4H conversion to H4 HID.

yes you might have “35 watts of satisfaction” with your light output, but how is the pattern?

park 25 feet from a wall at night and shine your headlights directly at it. then take a picture of that and show me it. im not hating, im actually interested so :chill:

and are you using JDM one peices or ebay ones?

:pixstfu:

Hahaha Yeah I will take some pics pretty soon. And they are JDM one pieces.

Here is a few night shots.

pics in my opinion don’t really do HID’s justice! I had some on my car, and they were brighter than when I had my highs and lows on plus fog lights! If you want to keep your high beams, a couple of companies sell bi/lo HID’s kits, it allows you to keep your high beams!

Do HID’s in one pices really light up the road well? or just look pretty? they look like they light up the road in that pic, but not far at all.

The shed in that pic is farther than it looks. They light up the road ALOT better than halogen. I will take better pics as soon as I get the chance.

that looks pretty good.

i just cant understand the fluted lenses being able to direct HID’s that well. thats the reason why real HID lights have clear lenses i thought.

hey guys. i can vouch for the HID’s working…just finished a set on my EG hatch…looks great!!
(my buddy’s crashed 99 TL had DS2 HID’s in it. this was pretty easy to retrofit into my stock lights. just made an adapter)

-white92LS, the “real” HID lights that i used do in fact have a fluted lense covering them, THEN there is a clear, unfluted lense on the outside of the whole headlight.
i can take pics of the spare headlight that i have from his car. the light output is pretty good, with no funky cutoff of anything. i would also be curious to see how they look in a 1pc JDM unit…

Rob -what kit did you use?

looking good on the HID kit but honestly you are probably blinding the shit outa people in front of you (i kno its great to get revenge on other cars/ trucks but cops dont like it and will give u a ticket).
it looks like the light isnt a beam but instead the lights are scattered all around and not so much so focused. so yes it does look much brighter but… it doesnt have that clean cut off as custom mounted HID projectors or stock HIDs.

when mounting projecters into the housing u are actaully projecting the light out wards instead of using the chrome reflective inside the housing to direct the light pattern.

using HID projectors in a housing with fluted lense doesnt work as great as a clear lense. the fluted lense are there for us hologyn bulb users simply because we need to help the light spread/ scatter better. but when you use it with HID projectors they will scatter some of the beam and it basically scatters the light and spreads it around (not much but noticably enough) and you lose some of the lighting that you would want to go towards the ground/road.

if you notice cars that come stock with HIDs all have clear lense thats because thats what HIDs require for best results.

try to get a pic of ur car facing a wall and ur car on a level surface. not back roads that most of use wouldnt take our lowered ass cars too…hahaha im thinking that teh cut off wouldnt be as clean as if u got projector HIDs put in.

peace

sorry, i was thinking of a diferent thread when i posted lol.

AKS92GS-what kit did you use?

Superhids.com 5300k

Hey guys, I actually completely forgot about this thread until I came accross it, been amazingly busy, no pics of the cut-off, been too damn busy. But here’s something to hold you over, bad picture, my camera picks up a lot of glare, but there isn’t really any since the cut-off is awesome since they are JDM Headlights as opposed to the crappy USDM Ones.

The kit is a VisionX 8500K H4 HID Kit, and like i said, I cut down a H4 and used the bases off a set of H4H bulbs to make my own H4H HIDs, I just got some extra H4H bulbs off a member here to use for another set, I am waiting for another member here to get some HIDs so I can do a write up on how to do it, so it’s gonna be a while, but once I do it, I will have pictures and step-by-step on how to make them properly.

well i dun wanna sound like an ass but why did u go through all of that why didnt u just buy h4h hids? im goin to get some myself, i know a retrofit would be a lot better but i could care less i mean if u get the bulb that was made for the light housing its goin to be alot better… like when people use h4’s or do a 9004/7 in the JDM’s they give off a lot of glare…

Because they make the wrong bulbs fit in hokey ways, read the Teg Tips on putting H4 bulbs in, thats hella Ghetto, I actually MADE h4h Bulbs, right depth and mounting and glare sheilds, Mine don’t scatter like others, still don’t have a projector cut-off, but much better.

And I didn’t buy H4H because they just came out on E-Bay like 5 weeks ago and no one has tested them yet. I know mine work.

what im talking about isnt some ebay h4h hid crap… im talking about an h4h hid kit striaght from japan where they actually use these bulbs so u know its good, but if yours works more power to u i was just saying plus if anyone elses reads my post it might save them some work and they can just buy the kit instead of doing it themselves cause some of us are lazy lol…

I would actually prefer to buy H4H HID bulbs, I am thinking of upgrading to 12000k bulbs instead of the 8500k I have now, but I can’t find a place to buy them, if anyone knows, please post up. Making them is a REAL pain and it’s got it’s risks while modifying the bulbs, easy to break em.

Someone has to know where to actually buy em.

why would you want higher K rated bulbs?

The lower is better for sight…
