Dose any one know of a company that make a high performance Jack shaft (Intermediate shaft) for DA’s?
I have upgraded to a Drive Shaft Shop level 3.9 CV axels and now I am breaking the jack shaft in transmission. I called DDS and they advised me to send in my axel so they can convert it to a female and for me to use the DC Intermediate. This is going to cost me another $350 + tax+ 75 DC jack and shipping = about $566 + $1,200.00 I paid for axels.
The only one I’ve ever seen is from drive shaft shop. I don’t think there’s any other options and with DSS you can’t go wrong.
I know you can’t go wrong with them but the jackshaft they sell is for the DC Integra not for the DA. Has anyone else run into this problem?
Is any one putting down 250tq or more?
And if so what problems have you run into?
i’ve been putting down about 350whp 280ft-lbs tq for the past 4 years and the only issue I had with the midshaft was the 21 year old bearing. The DC midshaft still works. You just need to get the inner cup changed on your left axle it’s no big deal.
I just sent out the CV axel to DSS and bought a DC jackshaft.
Did you change over to the DC intermediate for the same reason as me?
I am putting down 258TQ and 382HP my resent setup was 206TQ, 286HP I hade problems with the diff and axels. So upgraded to Mfactory diff & DSS axels fixed the problem, now that I put a little more torque and power down the jackshaft brakes. Its just disappointing! Do you drag race your car at the track normally and what are your 60fl if so? :burnout:
I’m still using the DA midshaft never had an issue with it. I had axle and diff issues also. So I bought the Mfatory helical lsd and I have custom 600whp axle’s from A1 CV Tech. I go to the drags every friday night and do an average of 15 passes. I only run on street tires so my 60 foots are 2.2 average which is bad but normal I guess. This year I’m going to be buying some drag slicks though. I know a guy that had 420whp but not sure of the torque in a DA and he had the same axles as me with the oem midshaft and he ran drag slicks and never had a midshaft issue. Yours is snapping in the diff? You have drag slicks?
Yes mine is braking in the diff and I’m running 24.5 X 8 X 15 M/T Silks. My 60fl is between 1.71 and 1.78 on average. The last time I went to the track the intermediate shaft gave out because the track was well prepped and sticky as hell. I think the Teg would have dropped a 1.60 – 1.65 in the 60ft if it would not have broken.
Advise to all DA fans
If you are planning on upgrading to strong expensive axels upgrade the intermediate shaft to a hydraulic style of a DC Integra. Torque levels above 210 will snap your jackshaft on a will prepped track if you are running silks. So if you are striving for more than 300HP and plan on paying $1,299.00 for some Drive Shaft Shop level 3.9 axels I hilly recommend upgrading the intermediate shaft and use the DC DSS axels.
