high pitch noise...

theres this high pitch noise that comes from the motor of my car i think it could be one of the belts or something. it gets louder when i step on the gas… the thing is it only happens when it wants to happen… to me i think its the a/c belt but i just tighten it not so long ago… if this is the cause what causes it to come loose all the time…

if you hear it coming from the engine, then most likely its a loose belt. but if you hear the high pitch whine coming from your speakers, then its your stereo system.

If it’s a squeaking, it’s the belt/s. If it’s a whining, it’s probably something else.

Find out where the hi pitched noise is coming from exactly. It could be a variety of things. I’ve had all these things happen to me when I heard sounds from the engine bay…

  1. If it’s a sqeaking sound, it’s probably your belts. (either too tight, or too loose)…

  2. If it’s a high pitched whistling sound (this sound is similar to that of a sports game’s referee whistle sound), then there’s a chance it’s your abs pump. Mine had an internal leak and everytime my ABS was used, the pressure would drop and when it tried to pressurize itself, it would whistle loudly. I just disconnected the ABS relay afterwards… I just have to deal with the light on my dash now.

  3. If it’s a High pitched sound squealing from your around your valve cover/distributor area, it’s a chance that it could be your distributor beginning to seize. My distributor did seize on me after a week of driving with the sound (because I was too busy to look into the problem), it f*cked up my timing and crap…caused a lot of trouble. When I took my distributor apart, there were a lot of metal shavings in there, so you get the drift.

Either way, you should take some time and determine where the sound is coming from, it might be something that needs attention soon…or it can be as simple as a squeaky belt which you need to change.

thanks guys… but the thing is when i do want to check it out it only happens when im driving… when im at home it dont make the noise… its garanteed one of the belts but dont know which one…
