Does anyone know of any blueprints or detailed dimensions of the Hiro spoiler for the DA9’s? Im trying to make a replica from aluminum, foam, and fiberglass but ive only got a ROUGH idea of the dimensions of these. If anyone could help itd be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Mugen has nothing to do with it… Original manufacturer is Hiro. Then it was remade by Pancake Racing.
Also JDP made a limited run of them out of carbon fiber.
i thought they had some sort of association with mugen or it was made in collaboration or something. i guess not lol thanks for the info!
This is the first time I’ve heard of that… But I could be wrong, hell, stranger things have happened lol.
its hard to really find any legitimate info on these unfortunately, a quick google seems to turn up only forums and such. i did see that there is another mugen spoiler for the da9 (ugly as hell imo) but most of the threads about the hiro spoilers do seem to associate them with mugen. but then again, it is the internet and people are misinformed quite often. id be happy if someone with the pancake or jdp just posted a few pics with a ruler next to them lol the only idea of how big these are is by comparing it in relation to the car
The Mugen and Hiro for the DA are COMPLETELY different wings. The Hiro however looks similar to the 1st gen Mugen and OEM ITR for the DC Integra, and none of these look anything like the Mugen for the DA Integra. Google image search has all you need to see the differences between all of these wings.
Colin, yeah i guess i wasnt reading closely enough through the threads, the Mugen spoiler is a wrap-around about the same height as the OEM wing. I personally dont like the look of those, but i love the way the Hiro spoilers look, and thats the one im looking for. If only wings west sold a replica of the Hiro ones too…
IMO somebody should make one that is more similar to the itr spoilers but to match our body lines. The hiro is a little too tall for my taste, and I don’t like the “tilt” it has. Lol.
i actually like how far back they stretch, kinda like the old mercedes benz 190e wings
Funny, those are the reasons I like it! The height is probably about right, if not a little low. And the tilt (assuming you mean angle of attack on the top element) I think is probably a good thing. Speaking aerodynamically of course. But that’s coming from someone who would want the wing for downforce not aesthetics.
if i can get it right and im happy with the quality, i might make a few more and sell them. buuuuttt first i need dimensions lol unless i wanna kinda freestyle it so it just looks right
it has already been re made in carbon fiber from JDP…they are $475 plus shipping if you would like one
Get your flame suite on… Being that this is a rare commodity in our community, it is a very touchy subject. People freaked out when they read that JDP was going to re-release it.
Keeping it limited is one of the reasons why it is such an iconic part of its history… If everyone and their mom could get their hands on one, it would cease to be such a commodity and will rather be another played out “eBay” item.
And Bryan, you know the site doesn’t endorse the seller of those wings anymore… Guys communication is absolutely terrible. Has a line of people interested yet can’t return emails or other correspondence. Not worth the hassle imo.
And unified, i know lol ive read the forums. thats a big reason i want dimensions, so i can get it as close as possible to the original. I just figured id throw that out there, but this is my first time doing anything with fiberglass so i highly doubt id want to put any out there.
JDP does NOT sell the wing… They made 10 for their client, and purchases must be from him.
yeah fuck that, id rather have the fun of making my own
There have been a few threads like this before. If you want to do it right you will need one to make a mold, I don’t see any other way to do it right.
im going to be printing lots and lots and lots of pictures for reference lol. i plan on starting with a strip of aluminum for the core, building it up with heavy foam, then fiberglass on the outside as a shell. fiberglass reinforced filler to smooth it, then extra resin and clear coat after the painting for a nice shiny finish. i can keep you guys posted with pics and what-not if you guys want so you can see how it goes
Easiest way to do it imo is a foam block.
Hell, make a box out of plywood, 4ftX2ftx2ft, or whatever size, and fill it with that expanding A&B foam. Then cut and sand the cube down do size. That’s how manufacturers and designers do it.
Another Hiro remake thread? God… Here we go again. Deceptakhan gave his Pancake Racing Hiro re-issue to slasher713 to use as a mold for the 10 carbon fiber wings he had JDP make. He still has most of them because like aforementioned, he wasn’t involved as much as he should have to sell them. Trying to make one from scratch while keeping to the original dimensions by just going off pictures is going to be unbelievably hard. If you’re just making this as a one-off creation for yourself, to enjoying the creative processes that accompany it, then have fun.
