HKS HI-power

Alright guys I have been doing a lot of searching and cannot really come up with definate answers. I want to get HKS hi-power exhaust for my teg but am worried I will have problems with ground clearence opne I am lowered and also worried that if I scrape it, it will rust being that I am in Chicago and it is not stainless steel piping? Anyone have experience with this I dont want to be scraping up my piping or muffler and have to replace parts every year or so. Please post experiences including what drop you have with your hi-power and how it has held up. Thanks

dont get it… many people report rusting over time… and yeahll itll scrape, but they all usually do… its a matter of how you drive and where.

try researching other exhaust systems that are less prone to rusting.

I have it, and it hasnt rusted at all, but i live in Virginia so theres not alot of salt or anything put on the roads. And my cars not lowered, so it hasnt scraped…i think it will if u lower it 2 inches or more though.

well I’m glad to hear that, before I buy it,

I’m slammned and was looking to it,

I’m lowerd prolly 3"+ I’m tucking 2" on the front and Over 1" on the rear.

Guess my best bet is to fab up a custom exhuast that is tucked up near the body and get the uni muffler, huh.

Sry to jack your thread.

I had the exhaust. Survived four New England winters before finally rusting and breaking apart. I loved how the exhaust looked though. The canister is tilted so it does hang a little low. I was dropped really low for a week and scraped it pretty good. Eventually I opened up a small hole in the canister. I welded it back together and raised the car up a little (still with about a 2" drop) and didn’t have any problems. Overall, as far as sound and looks are concerned it is a great exhaust. The only problems are the piping size is a little small at 55mm and the piping is ceramic coated and not stainless steel.

I have it too and love it…NO rust at all and no scrapes either but im dropped on tein h techs so not “slammed” as you kids call it.

so would a 2.25 inch drop be too aggressive for this system?

i dont believe so… but i think its moot talk if you go over speed bumps…i dont hit anything in regular driving, but i hit on almost every speed bump. Can’t get away from the damn things.

hey hondah22 whats your drop?

this was a kids car from a local meet he had about a 2 inch drop and didn’t seem to scrape except maybe speed bumps you can email him i believe his name on here is tgmtyper

Tein H tech’s less then 2"
