Holy crap! My throttle was stuck!

After I finished installing my AEM CAI tonight, I decided to take the car out for a spin. I backed out of the garage and the car accelerated okay. However, when I put it in first, the revs started going up even though I was pretty sure that I didn’t have my foot on the throttle. When I got to the end of the alley, I could barely stop the car as the engine started screaming up to 7000. I put the clutch in and I put more pressure on the throttle and then revs dropped back to normal. I drove it around for a bit and the throttle never stuck again.

I didn’t touch the throttle body or the cable. The only thing I did was attach the cable from the throttle valve diaphragm to the intake and I secured it using duck tape because I felt that the rubber gromet wouldn’t hold. I reset the ECU and I let the car warm-up completely before I took it out. The car accelerated fine so I don’t think it was a problem with the ECU.

This has never happened to me before, so why now? Is it a problem with the installation of the intake? Or did the cable simply get stuck?

throttle

i bet is was the intake hoses coming from the CAI. you had must of had the hoses switched. it happened to me but mine wasnt bad. it was more of an annoyance, but yours would be a safety hazard

Well, I connected the breather hose from the valve cover to the intake, which was what I was supposed to do. The only other cable that goes into the intake is the one from the throttle valve.

My dad took out the car today so I’ll have to ask him if the throttle got stuck again.

If you need a hand, call me up and bring ur car by.
