After I finished installing my AEM CAI tonight, I decided to take the car out for a spin. I backed out of the garage and the car accelerated okay. However, when I put it in first, the revs started going up even though I was pretty sure that I didn’t have my foot on the throttle. When I got to the end of the alley, I could barely stop the car as the engine started screaming up to 7000. I put the clutch in and I put more pressure on the throttle and then revs dropped back to normal. I drove it around for a bit and the throttle never stuck again.
I didn’t touch the throttle body or the cable. The only thing I did was attach the cable from the throttle valve diaphragm to the intake and I secured it using duck tape because I felt that the rubber gromet wouldn’t hold. I reset the ECU and I let the car warm-up completely before I took it out. The car accelerated fine so I don’t think it was a problem with the ECU.
This has never happened to me before, so why now? Is it a problem with the installation of the intake? Or did the cable simply get stuck?
