Honda/Acura Seatbelt Warranty

So I searched Honda-Tech and G2IC.com, and found that Honda warranties their seatbelts for the life of the car they’re in; as long as the car doesn’t have a salvage title.

Anyway, my '93 LS automatic seatbelts were screwing with me (the passenger side wouldn’t retract and the seatbelt warning system wouldn’t stopping “dinging”). I called Park Acura last Friday to ask if the warranty was real or not, and they said it was, so I made an appointment for today. I dropped the car off at 7:45 this morning, got a '08 TL as a rental, and bobbled along happily to work.

After work I went back to the dealership to pick up my 15-year old Integra from having warranty work, and needless to say all is well…with a free car wash and vacuumed interior to go along with my now-working seatbelts!

I am a Honda/Acura customer for life. I truly am seriously really impressed right now!

Congrats to you man! I’ve known of the warranty but yet to have to use it. But have two owner’s manuals to show if I ever do have to!

:fingban:

j/k lol good for you man. An '08 TL as a temp? Usually people end up in 4 door civics or cr-v’s around here. Not bad at all.

At an Acura dealership?

Dont let this thread mislead you. If they trace the problem down to wiring, its not covered under the warranty due to the cars age.

That’s what I went through, everything was covered until they realized it was a wiring issue.

Must be in the fine print…I hate fine prints.

Anyways, congrats to the OP. I doubt any Canadian models would need this as our seatbelts are manual but great info to know nonetheless.

It still covers the manual belts as well. My rears were replaced due to fraying. They weren’t even the original belts, since I went from gray to black.

You got lucky then, they are not supposed to replace them due to “normal wear” and I was always told that they belt fraying was “normal wear”

Thats badass!

I believe the guy who did the warranty work billed it as lockin up or not function properly. That’s why they replaced them. That’s not the point though, the point is it still covers manual belts too.

This is true, however every motor company is supposed to cover their seat belts like this, cause it’s a safety feature that is mandatory by law in the car. Honda/Acura are the ones that stay to their warranty.

mine were stuck half way a while back, dropped it off at the dealership and got it fixed. all i got was a crv as a rental :frowning:

See, even he got a CR-V. Acura dealerships, atleast around here, also offer Honda and sometimes other manufacturer’s vehicles and plenty of used. However, I know of a Nissan dealership in town that had someone return a 350Z with 500 miles on it and instead of selling it as used they use it as a replacement ride option. No wonder there are so many Nissans around here

my passanger seat belt will go half way then lock at the top and it is so are to push the red button cause the seat belt locks also and theres so much tention with it. will honda fix that. also my driver belt is starting to rip at the bottom will they replace that??

The one that is stuck partway in the track they should fix for sure, the other, will be up the their digression to fix or not under the warranty.

Just take it in. That’s really the only way to find out what they’ll fix and what they wont. We can speculate all day long… but you wont know til you go.

According to my Acura dealership (David McDavid Acura ; Plano, TX)
We wont replace the motors/tracks, just the buckles and retractors.

I just made a post in my seat-belt issue thread, which should answer any questions about the seat-belt warranty and what’s covered/not covered. All information was told to me several minutes ago by a tech at my local Acura.

Here’s a link to my post-

wow really, the motor was replaced when i took mine in

As was mine… as well as the auto seatbelt computer deal… hmmm… I guess it all really boils down to the dealer.
