i rock the busted front acura emblem so that i have a place to check my reflection in. gotta look good always baby. ahah
i used to know a guy with a full on right hand drive toyota soarer twin turbo 6sp. the one time i got pulled over with him the cop actually approached the right side of the car and said “i figured since it wasnt a lexus that it was one of them jap imported cars” and wanted to check the legality of his VIN and registration. luckily the florida DMV wasnt such assholes back in 01 like they are now. the Connecticut DMV ended up confiscating it, investigating and crushing it after he moved there not even a year later due to some loophole with privately imported cars. apparently the law has changed since and refunded my buddy in full. now he drives a GTR ahah
anyway, its only because of the hordes of stupid morons who happen to drive hondas too that we have to deal with this sort of discrimination… if only that gay fuckin movie had never come out, we could all modify our cars in peace.
Acura is a brand that does not exist anywhere outside of north america(as far as I know). Acuras are meant to be upmarket of Honda, a luxury division in line with lexus and infinity.
Everywhere else in the world the cars are badged as Honda.
The way I see it, I wish there were more global cars. Right now, ford is trying to do it. As you know, over in the UK, fords are pretty good cars. The fords made in and for the US/Canadian markets are scrapbucket crapcars. GM is similar, though the only place that gm makes any good cars is through Holden in Austrailia.
If you are wondering how Ford is trying to do it; the upcoming Fiesta has been around for a few years overseas and has been very well reviewed. The Ford Focus, in Europe, has for a few years shared a platform with the Mazda 3 and Volvo C30. Over there, it is available with the Volvo T5 Turbo engine and around 250Hp. The new RS model has 300+… I am told that the next revision of the US Focus will bring this platform here, thus making it a very good car. The current US Focus is the exact same as the old one; just has a different body.
Sorry for the rant, I just read up a lot on this kind of stuff, and I watch a lot of Top Gear…
You live not too far from me here in Springfield. I have considered the Honda badge swap, but the cops in our area of the country are total asses that will pull you over for anything. I got pulled over last week for speeding and I was not even speeding. The dumbass cop told me I was doing 42 in a 35, which I was not. Showed him my DL and INS, and he went, ran my name for warrants and then I was good to go. No tickets or anything.
Now, I do tend to accelerate kinda quickly, but I never take off like I am racing and when I reach the speed limit I ALWAYS back off. I just like the sound, and the feel of the way my car accelerates with its short geared automatic transmission.
Id of thought the fact honda as a brand is doing so much more than cars that people would rather have a honda emblem on there car anyway… O well cant beat the law can ya
