that’s a cool van! however, the daytona was built for one purpose. obviously not for what it was used for. i would elaborate, but i don’t think there’s really a need for it…

On a banked track the Daytona would own the van. The top speed on an Odyssey before the ECU starts pulse firing the injectors is 125 MPH.
haha thats awsone!!! they are in topeka!!! haha… oh and the minivan beating the datona is cool too!! lol

cool find
however, they are comparing 40+ year old engineering to present day.
I in no way support american cars these days, but I think a present day charger vs. the odyssey would be no competition.
If you actually research Honda Odyssey you will find it can work a lot more than a 40 year old Charger.
did any of you guys read any of the previous posts? there is one huge reason for the van to have beaten the car. you folks should really research what a dodge datona is…
I did, but there was absolutely no need for it. This should be common sence among any enthusiasts. Raw power versus semantic design.
have you ever heard of comparing apples to oranges?? apparently not, lol. find out why the daytona was built and then come back and review the thread. it could be possible that the van could have beat some other street muscle car, but for some reason, they decided to damage their credibility by using a daytona. why? one can only imagine…
thats pretty cool…lately i’ve been thinking of buying a first gen odessy and swap in an H22…
still like daytonas more. i have always wanted a superbird. was one of the first things that got me into cars.
Yea, if that was on a straight strip, the Daytona would have Odyssey-O’s for breakfast.
And I think alot of you don’t actually know what you are looking at with that big ugly orange thing that has a huge wing…
Thats a Dodge Charger Daytona. The reason it’s named “Daytona” is after the track. That, and its sister car, the Plymouth “Superbird” (which was essentially a hoped-up roadrunner) were the main contenders when it came to stock car racing, and they only made enough to qualify for the series. The reason they are made with that super big wing is because it’s functional, and because those cars were designed to beat everything else…on the circle track.
That is one of the original NASCAR cars. Reason why NASCAR is refered to as “stock-car racing”
And I realize this probably means nothing on an Acura Forum like this, but that car is one of those things you MIGHT see at a big car show…once…
lol…find out why the Odyssey was built. :giggle:
i am sure it was not for track racing.
defenitely not, but i can guarantee you that it was built to handle in order to make it less likely for a driver to get themselves in trouble. that translates to decent handling and less body roll. closer to a track racer than a car meant to go in circles really really fast. i know you meant it as a joke, but i’m just covering the bases in case anyone decides to go further.
normally, i would have just answered by typing: ha…ha…ha… :gunright:

That is not one of the original nascars. Nascar was formed and racing in 1948.
I do agree that the charger and superbirds are iconic and you might see once in real life if you went to car shows and such. They did dominate the track, and were obviously not great roadcourse handlers. Still pretty sad that a minivan could beat it.
:mensa:
I quit. say whatever the hell comes flying out of your mind without any regard to the cars you are talking about. Why am i defending a dodge? i have no idea. i hate mopar. all i know is that an old camaro would have beat the van as it was built as a more well rounded car than the daytona.
