I think this is the best way to do it. Just be really careful and make sure you’re not wearing your seat belt.
You can also jack the car up by the oil pan. The valve cover should lift the hood like that.

After hearing some ricer talk about it on his DC claiming it was for performance as it allows the air to flow more freely I would step away from this. Instead I would get a ground wire kit as he also recommended it because it gives you “like 20hp man”.
on that note the only performance thing about it MIGHT be that it allows hot air to escape easier when stopped. possibly when moving.
