if you are worried about the latch being stressed because of the angle of the striker try tilting the latch as well
my hood actually closes better now than before after the tilt… i did mine with about 8 dollars in parts from the home depot… (2) 25 pack of washers n 4 longer bolts… basically took one offf the hood and found what size it was with their little tool inside… then just got them longer… then had my friend hold the bonnet up then i put one washer on the screw itself and on the ones closest to the windshield i did 10 in total… and the one next to it i did 7 total… came out a bit higher than i wanted but it still looks really great and i can actually see the heat coming out of the bay…
I’m sorry but how does that look great? :sipread:
I was just thinking of doing this. Not because it’s rice or cools the engine bay, but I have an ill-fitting CF hood. If I did that, at least the gaps along the hood line wouldn’t look out of place.
giving that my strut tower bar hits my bonnet… i think its a fine compromise…
it looks like crap, sorry. it just doesn’t look right on our cars.
before after?
what did you do, hit 88mph?

Back to the future kicks ass

after the tilt… my strut tower bar doesnt hit the hood ne more… the hood closes better, easier…
i dont think it looks that bad. it looks best on our cars then any other honda. im thinking of doing it becuase my hood is bent and theres is a gap on the front passenger side by the headlight. i think it would look better than now
I’ve done this on my ride using 1" spacers. I’m not sure if it’s working or not. I dunno. I kind of liked my hood down but if it will help with my underhood temps then that’s what I’ll do. nothing wrong with it when it comes to function over form.
I would think that if your underhood temps are so high, maybe figuring out some other way of cooling it down would be in order–oil cooler, better radiator (the stock unit really isn’t all that great), water wetter, lower-temp thermostat, aftermarket fan switch, aftermarket radiator cap, etc…
You know, because all those road race (honda challenge, etc) cars that don’t have their hoods “tilted” and do just fine.
You’ve got a long way to go to convince me that those guys don’t see far more abuse and hotter underhood temperatures than your daily-driven street car. Yet none of them have tilted hoods that look like absolute dogshit.
Uncanny, I tell ya.
I did the JDM hood tilt mod to let the evil spirits escape from my engine bay without having to go through the firewall, where they might accidentally posess me. I’m not about to go through that shit again.
(Really, that’s about as good of a reason as any I’ve heard for this idiocy.)
But seriously, what’s up with 4 year old threads getting bumped like this?
no idea, people should really just not reply so they fall into the etherspace.
I agree, bumping these old threads with worthless posts just adds to the problem.

someone had started a new thread about this. This one came back up after Spikeymike closed it.
^^^ ahh, gotcha… refuge thread.
lol
im dropin in a b18c1 in my DA and when i close my hood…my valve cover and hood touches…im not gonna be doing this to vent, its more likely to allow clearance VTEC BABY!!
ya know what, I had a whole lineup of smartass comments for this, but it really doesn’t even need my special touch.
wow.
did you ever stop to consider that VTEC has nothing to do with the fact your hood doesn’t fit properly?
