Horn / Weird Alarm?

Alright, so here’s the story. I got my car back from the body shop with a new paint job and kit put on. (Black Widow Kit). Drove it home, and put it in the garage.

Today was the only day I managed to get home from work while there was still daylight. So I wanted to wash off the dust from me taking it to the body shop to home, and take some pictures.

I put some water on the hood, and starts scrubbing. I walk away a second, and it goes off, like there is some sort of alarm. I hop it, turn the key, it stops. I get out, walk back to rinse it, it starts again. Now I know I have no alarm, nor do I have a horn since mine blew. So I go in, test the horn for kicks, and I was right, it was out.

So I get back out, I tap the bumper, pop the hood, look around, it’s deafening me very very nicely must I say. Finally I figure out that there’s these two little speaker type things in front of the front tires. So I touch one of them and it stops, but through my front bumper side grills, I see that there’s a little electric charge moving around there, so I take my finger off not wanting to get a nice shock.

So I get a lil frustrated, and put her back in the garage. Meanwhile, my girl’s father calls and tells me to cut the wire going from it, since it probably was some alarm that the previous owner installed. Mind you, I have never had this problem in th 3 years I owned this car.

So I go back out, with a pair of scissors, ready to slice the wires, I touch the lil speaker thing for kicks, and it stops again. I take my finger off, and it’s stopped. I use my sleeve to rub it off, and it stays quiet. My personal opinion is that water somehow got in whatever that is and set whatever it was off.

Now, is that an alarm that I had no clue about, or is it something else, and how do I get around to washing my car because of it.

Sorry for the long post. Any advice would be more than welcome.

Hmmm… I had to change your subject and move your post. Wrong forum.

I have no idea what’s going on. I have some weird stuff with my car too. Whenever I start the engine the corner lights come on. I’ve just gotten used to it.

Sorry, can’t help ya with the alarm problem, but i’d love to see some pics of that kit on ur car. drop me a line at sting336@yahoo.com if you can send me some. I’d very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Give me a few weeks to figure this thing out, and I can get some pics up. It’s just I always get home past 6, so it’s dark. I’ll probably shoot them around Thanksgiving.

those little speaker things are your horns. one side is the hi-tone, other side is low-tone. You have a short somewhere. I guess when you put water on it the connection was made again, and stuck on.
I’d just remove the front bumper (easy), replace the horns with replacement ones from any auto-parts store. Make sure to get the same type (the ones that look like seashell shapes don’t fit properly.)

My horns were stuck on for a few weeks last winter… I finally replaced the horns themselves and everything was fine.

Yeah, once you pop the hood, it’s loud as hell eh? LOL

Tell me about it. Plus I was bending down and actually looking at them, so that made it worse.

Not to mention the weird looks I got from people passing by. “Punk must be trying to jack a car”

Appreciate the tip. At least now I know what the hell they are.
