horrible gas milage

what i would do is just use a .oo7 feeler gauge on all the valves that way u dont have to go back and forth
and id determine which cylinder to adjust by looking at the rotor
when u want to turn it just barely crank the engine til its where u
want it

what i did was work as if my cam gears were opposite, ie #1 cylinder is marked by the PR3 mark, and did them from there, i did the clearances .006 for intake, and .007 for exhaust, but i still get valve chatter, what is going on?

i might be low on oil, could this be a problem?

id also solder the o2 sensor

well, i had indeed soldered the o2 sensor to begin with, but i did redo it, and shorten the length of the wire, as was directed in the install…

the arrow on the cam gear pointing up signifies that the top end is at TDC. When you get the cam gears there you should look down the side of your engine, kinda under the driver side motor mount at the crank pulley. You will see a white line there all by itself on the pulley. That line should be lined up with the wedge sticking off of the lower timing belt cover. If it doesnt, then your bottom end it not at TDC and you need to reset that by pulling the timing belt and setting the top and bottom to TDC.
There is a chance that the mark will be hard to see because the paint has a tendency to wipe off after the years. There is still a little notch taken out of the pulley where the white paint goes. Look for that if you cant see the white mark.
There are 3 other marks that you should be aware of. 2 white ones and 1 red one. The red one will be in middle of the 2 white ones. Dont worry about those during this, they will only confuse you.

Also, when your cranking your engine for the valve adjustment, you want to make sure to crank it COUNTER CLOCKWISE. That is the direction that the engine move. If you go the other way you wont be on TDC for any of the cylinders because there will be slack in the timing belt, therefore the bottom end will have spun more than the top end… So just make sure to go counter clockwise with the crank pulley bolt.

The firing order is 1, 3, 4, 2. cylinder 1 is the closest one to the drivers side fender.

That pretty much covers it. Is there anything else that you need to know??

do as br said
also i thought my wifes civic had vavle chatter at one time
i did the valve adjustment on her car three times with no success
then i listened closer and thought maybe its an exhaust leak
sure enough pulled the heat shield off the header and what did i see?
number one port cracked all the way around on the header!!
check it out its worth a shot
if u dont see it there then look for carbon build up at the head gasket and along the exhaust system
