Hey guys its been awhile but Im back with more questions. I recently purchased a ecu chip from a guy on ebay for 10 bucks. No big loss if it doesnt work. But when I opened my ecu much to my surprise the stupid chip is soldered into the board. How the crap do I take the old chip out and do I have to solder the new one in place or can I just clip it in and bend the prongs to make contact. Any information what so ever would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys (or girls)
Its kinda hard to do… my friends mom did it for me.
i think they go together. they should click into place with each other on the pin connectors
yes you have to solder them on. best thing to do is prob take it to a electronics repair shop… one of those small shops and get them to do it.
Actually, it can be a big deal. The ECU is an ESD (Electrostatic Sensitive Device). In other words, if an electrostatic discharge hits the ECU, it can and most likely will fry the ECU. A good knowledge of soldering as well as ESD precautions (proper grounding) is important prior to working with the ECU. Best of luck.
