I had a hella hard time takin my rear springs/shocks out. Followed the instructions in the Helms manual, but the trailing arm and control arms just wouldn’t drop down enough for me to get the assembly out, but I found that if I took pretty much any other bolt out (wheel assembly to lower control arm bolt for instance), I was able to move the suspension enough to pull the spring/shock assembly out.
Only problem that can occur then is if the bushings are seized to the bolts (took HOURS to do ONE shock on my gf’s 91 civic si).
front ones I didn’t have a problem with, but I imagine you could use the same method.

i’m gonna try to wedge em out, but are there any bolts i’m missing?[/B]
Did you unbolt the fork from the shock?
well ive taken off the shock, put the spring on, but now i can’t geta bolt back on …
the lower control arm and the brake assembly are held together by a nail-shaped bolt
i can’t seem to line up the holes from the control arm and the brake assembly together, i’m like 1 cm off… it is really annoying… is there something i should be doing?
I’m not exactly sure which bolt you are talking about, but if it’s the lower control arm bolt that goes through the fork of the shock, then have someone step down on the rotor, then you can line it up by putting a screw driver through the holes.
i had finally given up on putting the damn thing back together, so i go to jack up the rotor (to get the wheel back on), and i jack it up a bit, and i notice the bolt going in a little bit farther. so it happens that… the thing screws right in, and i tighten everything up, and i’m good to go
so now i have to just do 1 more spring, and i’m all done
