Theres a big crack on my winshield. How would I go about replacing this myself? Or is this something I should pay someone to do.
It’s something you should pay someone to do. You need the proper tools to remove the old one, you need to find a source to purchase the new one, and you need the proper tools (and adhesive) to install it.
It can definitely be done by the average shadetree mechanic but chances for error are pretty high if you’ve never done it before.
State your location in your avatar thingie and maybe someone can recommend you a place to replace your windshield.
Anyways… if you’re in Norcal… there’s a place on Old Oakland Rd that does it for $115 installed… good luck.

Be prepared for cheap windshields to be… well, cheap. There is a quality difference between different brands and price usually reflects this. I replaced the windshield in my old DA a long time ago with a budget brand one because I was in highschool and didn’t have much money. Over the next couple years it became incredibly pitted from normal road debris. Not rock chips and cracks, but tiny tiny blemishes that decreased visibility and made it more difficult to clean. In the future I plan on using only OEM or the top quality non-oem replacements.
Well I can get a replacement at the junkyard, but then I would have to remove it and install it. Is this something I can do at home to save money? What kind of tools would I need etc?
