Well basically i wanted to know how to adjust my valves. I have a 90 Gs and i figure it’s about time to adjust them!! So how do you do it?? Oh yeah and also how do you tighten your throtle cable?? THANKS!!!
I highly suggest you invest in a resource such as the Helms manual and some good quality tools if you do not already have them. The manual will provide better info than most typed descriptions as well as contains all the torque specs for each nut and bolt.
I have good tools and I have the other version of the helmes manual. I think it’s canadian, it’s called the haynes manual. So your saying it should say in the manual??? Thanks for the help
well its fairly easy
put the car on pair of safety stands, take off the driver’s side front wheel
i think the crank pulley is 19mm socket, put it on
take off the valve cover and now turn the crank pulley nut so the lobes on the cams over left most cylinder (looking at the engine from the front of the car) are either point towards eachother or the exhuast lobes point forwards and the intake lobes point backwards.
now i cant remember which side gets what clearance, but they are .007" and .009" (they will be stated in the manual however). anyway get a 12mm wrench, put it over the nut and with losen it. with a screw driver adjust the clearance measureing with a feeler gauge. tightened the nut back.
double check clearances. move onto the next cylinder but rotating the crank pulley again.
pictures are worth a thousand words. next time i do i’ll take a few snap shots. im sure i missed something, please feel free to correct me. any questions?
If you look under the teg tips section on g2ic you will find an instruction on how to do a valve adjustment. It is really easy and shouldnt take you more than 2 hours for your first shot at it.
The haynes and the helms are totally different. The haynes is a piece of crap that isnt worth the paper it is printed on and the helms is the actual honda/acura shop manual.
You should be able to do it fine with some feeler gauges, and a decent metric socket set and a flathead screwdriver.

Re: How do you adjust your valves??
Click on link below for valve adjustment.
This site shows direction to do it on G3 but you get the idea… Look under your hood for adjustment specs and if your engine is not VTEC,
you don’t need to bend a wrench.

Good luck and don’t forget to torque everything to spec!

Ahhh, words of the wise… I live by my torque wrenches. They are by far some of my best tools…
