I live in Canada, I’m looking to buy a used DA or DC from the US but I prefer my speedometer & odometer to show in km’s instead of miles.
Is this an easy conversion?
I know that switching the gauge console from one car to another will not reflect the true mileage of the car since the speedometer console is from another car. Is this the right way to do this?
Also the computer governing the speedo cable is probably programmed to measure in miles/hour on US cars instead of km/h?
Do I have to reflash the ECU?
Has anyone done a similar conversion?
any ideas?
Just do it. Every thing hooks up, s/b no probs. except for the “eh?” reading.:read:
The ECU does not record mileage on a G2, Just swap the US cluster out with a JDM, EDM or Canadian cluster. If you are worried about he mileage being correct take the odometer apart and reset the reals.
I believe to be legal and all that s**t the Canadian Federal Governement makes you change the speedo, change out the automatic seat belts to manual and install daytime running lights to comply with the standards. Now that’s true for sure on newer cars but I’m not sure on older cars.
Thanks
Thanks all, I’ll probably just change the whole gauge cluster from a JDM or Canadian car and not worry about the odometer mileage. I’ll just document the cluster change for when I have to eventually sell-off the car.
cheers!
