okay, ended up getting it aligned at big o tires…they were pretty friendly but again the guy used an impact wrench to tighten the lugs…even after i asked him if they used torque wrenches…now i’m not sure if he understood what i said…he was like yea, this thing can definately torque them good. and i said that wasnt the point, i knew it had more than enough power to do the job. Going to loosen them and re-tighten them tomorrow with the proper tools and torque. Didnt drive it too hard this evening to avoid aggravating the problem on the brakes.
but other than that it was good i guess. didnt expect the price to be so high, but i forgot that i was doing both an alignment and mounting/balancing new tires and rims. They were able to squeeze me in just before closing time.
results:
1" drop
fronts: -1.4 deg camber, absolute zero on toe.
rear: ~-1 camber (within fac. spec) and .1 and .09 rear toe (within spec. before alignment it was -.)
front and rear caster within spec.
overall the only thing not in spec is the front camber. supposed to be -1 at the least. But i am glad with how it handles and rides. Its SO much quieter than my unevenly worn michelins. i can roll up the windows and there wont be that rrr rrr rrr sound from the rear end. Its just solid road noise (a good thing in my case).
you said he u sed an impact wrench to tighten the lugs. Were you concerned about him overtightening them? If he did it the right way with the impact wrench, they usually use an “impact socket” that stops at a sertain ft.-lbs. although i could be wrong and hes a jurk off who overtightened your lug nuts. good call on being on the safe side.
oooh i did not know that… I did see him switch out sockets. i’ll do it just in case. but i stood for 2 hours watching everything he did. Seems like he’s the “top” mechanic there, telling the other mechs what to do and only he test drove the cars.
“so this is a 1993?”
“yea”
“its pretty clean”
“haha yea i try”
“yeah i can definitely say its in great condition”
goto SEARS, i went to sears in santa monica and they did it with no questions asked. nevermind i see you already got the alignment and having negative camber is good for handling, i have -2.4 front and -1.5 rear with 0 toe all around with azenis rt-615
