how high can i safetly rev on a stock b16a bottom end?

my vtec head is built but my b16a bottom end is stock… i need to increase my vtec xover but i dont want to drop out of vtec everytime i shift gears… please reply

8200rpms

you should be good to 9500 rpm. just make sure your cylinder head is truly built to handle that rpm.

I would say that 9000rpm is the most safe. Pushing stock B16A rods up to 9500 or 10000rpm is a scary thing. Besides, most VTEC cams drop power at 9000 or a little after 9000rpm. I rev my CRX with B16A up to 9000 all the time. ITR valve train with Toda Spec A cams.

thats what I was going to bring up- 99% of setups, even if you could, would not produce beneficial power after 9000 or so- so why worry about building an engine to withstand 10k rpm
