how long does it take?!!

when you get a new motor put in. my car has been at the shop for 3 weeks now for her b18c conversion the motor is in and all all that is left is to wire up the new ecu, i should have her back by next wednesday. I was just wondering if this was a normal timeframe?

ummm that is a long a$$ time…i would be pissed…

It usually takes me a couple of days, but I take my time and I’m a perfectionist. I make the motor look like it was meant to be there. No wires just laying around. That always pisses me off.

it sounds like you’re gonna be getting a pretty big bill when all is said and done. it took me and a friend of mine three days to swap motors and this was the first time either of us did a swap on an integ. since you’re car is in the shop, you should’ve had your car back two or three days after you took it in.

I’ll get her back within the next 3 days, I think that the problems lie in the fact that g2s are not real common here and i really think that mine may be the first b18c conversion in Australia, so it is a bit more of a challenge I know the clutch took 6 and a half days to get here and the motor has been in the car since last wednesday but the guys that are doing the computer have been really busyso it only went in there today, i’m just hangin…
by the way the price has been set already by now so i know exactly how much it will cost- AU$4933 that is about US$2550 for the lot- motor, new clutch, cable tranny, wiring in new loom, computer itself, exhaust manifold and labour! I think things may be a bit cheaper over here…

wow-thats cool! let us know how it is?

good lord yes! hell a b18c swap alone (no labor included in this) is at the VERY VERY VERY best $3000, usually more.

shouldnt take more than 8 hrs to remove and install the engine side. Then 2-3 hrs to plug in stock wiring parts attach wheels, fluids ect. Then another 1-2hrs for wiring and startup.

so i’d say 2 days for average mechanic. or 2 backyard friends

Just paid $4000AU for a B18C swap and an extra $400 for tunable ecu + wiring.

way to open up a four year old thread.:werd:
