how much for salvaged gsr?

workin on the wife right now!

Do eet!!!

I really wish you the best of luck and await pics of the car in your driveway!

*crosses fingers

This is California, Rust is rare and Aztec DB2s are more common then you think over here.

It just takes afew weeks to a month or 2 of waiting for a clean one to show up…

Things I noticed.

Tire pressure is really low on 2 tires, Possible leak or the car has been sitting for a long time, Which leads me to wonder why it’s been sitting for so long (if it has been), Header doesn’t look stock or recently replaced, The hood has been repainted (Look under the hood, The sticker has over spray and DB2s had some fiber glass inlay), Radiator support looks a little crinkled by the battery (could just be the picture), Holes are drilled into the corner of the bumper for license plate (for some reason?)… I checked smog history and it came out clean, Smogged last November.

Just things I noticed and wonder about.

Holy crap, you just posted exactly what I was going to post.
There is a reason a car that old is that clean. Remove the carpet and look for shady repairs.
Yes, it has a salvage title but that’s not the issue. The issue is “why” and how the repairs where made and was there other damage?
The guy can’t even spell worth a crap and used all caps.
Something is up with this car. Please, at minimum, run a carfax and take it to a mechanic to check it out.
I was looking at this BEAUTIFUL Mazda for my ex. This car was incredible but when I pulled the carpet back in the trunk, you could see the hack job that was done from it getting rear ended. Nothing was reported so the title was clean but it was way obvious that the car was hit once I looked closer. The point is that something else major may be wrong with the car but they’re using the other “damage” as a “distraction”.
Or, maybe I am wrong, which I HOPE that I am.

this is NADA you can check KBB.com and edmunds.com as well I know that this is not always the best way to value vehicles like these but it should help give you an idea

I noticed some of those things too, I also notice the spark plug cover is scratched?

You should test drive it and look for pulling to the side etc. Then decide if you really want it. I love the aztec green.

I did notice all of these things…I talked to dude, and he sounds a little ghetto but knows most of his shit it seems. The headers are DC, apparantly the stock ones had a small leak. he said the hood was repaired, maybe it’s a standard G2 hood that’s been painted…the important thing for me is frame, and motor matching…hella DBs out there with b16 swaps and crap like that.
He said it has been sitting out in front of his house for the last year being driven once a month…he’s got four other cars in various states of projectness ( new word I am trademarking right here right now)

heres where I get really honest with you guys and tell you the 1st gsr I had I had no idea what I had and pretty much bastardized… no name intake, spray painted gray wheels…f%$^ing yellow emblems… no joke, I feel really shitty about how I treated that car…I had to go to jail for a lil while ( back when I was young and stupid at 18 ) my dad let my brother borrow my car up at school ( chico state) he got drunk and left the car unlocked with the windows down and it got stolen… I got out of jail and was supposed to get my car back but was told it was gone…3 months later I get the call from state farm " we found your car"

“completely dismantled in yuba city…really nothing left but the frame”

i know , i would never get a g3 over a g2

i was trying to say if i were into g3 i would spend more for a type r

i went to see 5 da last month, all of them looks good in the pics, drives like shit , looks like shit in person, most da/dbs on CL requires a lot of work, sellers always lie about the problems

anyways , good luck with that

kinda lookin like the wife is winning this one :frowning: she has a good point about salvage title cars…you cannot fully insure them. If it gets stolen, that’s it, it’s gone…they won’t insure anything but liability and maybe a few custom parts. I left the ball in her court, she will let me know tuesday( when banks are open again anyway) The reason I can’t be sneaky is we both need to be present to take money from the home equity line…haha I feel like a gsr in the driveway adds value to my home. I wonder if my homeowners insurance would cover it’s theft if I had proof of purchase price…anyone know that?

^^first i would replace the wife…

haha…I would if she wasnt the best thing that ever happened to me! She has told me every single time Ive sold a car not to do it…every motorcycle too. She is totally down with my need to project…just not when we don’t have “extra” cash laying around. We have twin 2 year old girls that cost a ton of money (worth every penny though) so it is a big deal when I buy vehicles…since the kids were born I’ve had two integras, a crx, a 91 civic si, and two motorcycles… I sold the last remaining integra to add to the home buying cost…now that we’ve been in the house for 18 months and we’ve figured out how to pay 3k a month and have a little extra I want another teg!
i will buy it for 2200, but i still will think about it , cuz its salvage title

i dont see why a gsr is so better, it just a usdm b16 motor

if its a type r for 3rd gen i would pay more, cuz it has upgraded chassis, seats and all that goodies

if i were you i would spend that kinda money on a clean lower mileage da

or buy a clean running or non running shell and drop all that 2000-2500 in mods

you will be 10x better looking and faster than a gsr, if you want a gsr just put a gsr badge on the rear
G2s are much lighter than DC’s. B17 makes 17 ft/lb more torque than a b16! For performance driving the DA chassis is superior due to a lower center of gravity and less weight. The DB2 is the fastest of tegs except the Type-r.

If the car has been put together right, and you don’t care about resale, buy it! Its for you, not us. Pay what you are comfortable with. I think $2500 would be a good deal for you in this situation!

Damn wife is tryin to be all responsible and shit…saying we don’t need any more debt…blah blah blah. She’s at the store right now and when she gets back she’s going to have a spreadsheet that shows how much in gas I could save a week/month/year driving the gsr…may have to put the foot down and just take action. May lead to a bitter wife for a few months. May leave a smile on my face…time to get devious me thinks :expressionless:

oh and she doesnt realize our tax return should be about 10k!!! just can’t sit around and wait for that tho!

My liability/ uninsured covers theft. Huh. Don’t go into debt to buy it. If the cash isn’t there, it might as well be a Ferrari. Considered buying one of those lately?

B17 makes 117 lbs/ft of torque.

B16 makes ~111 lbs/ft of torque.

How is that a 17 lbs/ft difference?

yep…this is how my wife sees it too…makes sense. I think I have to wait for tax return when I have the cash…if it is still around then I’ll swoop it up. Otherwise if another db2 is for sale in california somewhere I’ll jump on it.

Bad info. I thought b16s were 100 flat. looks like 106-118 depending on model.

Interesting the displacement make no difference.

Earlier you mentioned that you could buy a clean DA for alot less, or buy the salvage GS-R. If you are trying to buy the car to save on gas you should get the DA.
I sold my clean salvage title GS-R for a clean DA, and I love the savings in gas and insurance. Have you looked at the GSR in person yet?

you stated earlier she has a lucku jeans habit. that sounds like she’s buying shit she doesn’t need. yet your not allowed to buy something u really want. put your foot down, if that doesn’t work keep the pimp hand strong! lol jk
