Trying to figure out how much my transmission is worth… JDM Y1 short geared cable, with Cusco LSD… tranny was recently opened, inspected by tranny shop and new bearings installed (can’t remember what they are called)
That’s a REALLY hard question to answer. Pricing on transmissions in general tends to be all over the place, and is even less consistent with the cable versions. The best thing you’ve got going for you is that it has an LSD. The things you have against you is the type of LSD and the fact that it’s a small spline trans, which IMO is essentially impossible to rebuild properly. Personally I’d never even consider using a small spline trans, so to a certain section of the market the trans is basically worthless - but there are definitely less picky buyers out there. The other issue is that a trans is expensive to build but generally not worth much when you sell it since it’s so hard to confirm the condition or what the internals are.
I’d think a realistic price would be ~$400. If you’re really lucky, maybe $650, or if you have a hard time finding a buyer, maybe as low as $250.
I had a y1 for a while with lsd and hated it. runsthe smaller b16 sir lsd that breaks and really expensive to rebuild for something that is out dated. I would part it out by getting a stock diff and sell the lsd for 3 or 4 bills or drop it in a ys1 ls tranny.
or just keep it if you just picked it up.
