How much lighter? is it worth it?

I have been looking at hoods, fenders, and trunk hatches in carbon fiber, and I would love to know from someone who has experience if it is really worth all of the talk. I have also been looking at fiberglass parts also, however, carbon fiber would just look soooooo evil. Just how much lighter? I would love to be able to remove 50 pounds from my teg in body panels alone. Then again, I don’t know if it’s gonna happen with fiberglass. What do ya’ll think?

cf hood and hatch with fal rear window and side windows and you should be at or even lighter then 50 pounds

where can you get the fal glass online? and for how much? i’m definatly gonna do a cf hatch and hood sometime

nopi.com

click on the red ecat sign… fal windows are expensive i think the kit or just the rear window can be as much as a cf hood or really close to it

Totally lexan. I mean, have someone that makes racecars give you reference to a manufacturer of lexan windows so that you can have one made for your car. I got to talking to an inspection station and they never heard of lexan being illegal. However, they feel that the front windsheld and driver/passenger front side windows SHOULD be original type glass. So, from what I have gathered from true inspectors, there is no problem with replacing rear window or hatch glass with lexan or similar material. I think that this method would be an ass load cheaper. However, I still need to do a little bit more research, but what they told me is convincing.

Could you imagine how awesome a carbon hatch with lexan would be? Also, replacing the rear side windows with lexan would all equate to an unbelievable amount of removed weight. We’re talking about over 50 pounds. More like 60-65 pounds. Therefore, if you have an integra rs with a COMPLETELY REMOVED stereo and alarm system, with no spare tire, you should be about 2450 or a little less. And then, if you were to temporarily remove your passenger side front seat which I would say roughly weighs 30 pounds, then your that much closer to 2400 pounds. We’re getting even closer and closer to the civics.
