How to check ECU codes on a 92 Integra

Hey everyone-

I was getting so frustrated with the lack of explanation on just how to check your Check Engine Light (CEL) codes. I finally found the proper answer on another site (sorry), so I thought I’d share the real answer with the board.

In a 92 Integra (and I assume it’s the same in a 93), here’s how you check your CEL codes:

STOP LOOKING FOR A “GREEN BOX”.

1. Locate the ECU service harness. This is located under the dashboard on the passenger’s side of the car. It’s tucked up in the right corner, just above the point the carpet ends. There’s a cluster of wires with two harnesses hanging off it.

2. Find the two-pronged harness. In my car, it was light gray, with two wires attached to it…one greenish, and one brown. THIS IS THE HARNESS YOU NEED TO JUMP.

3. Using a paper clip, jump the two female prongs by inserting the ends of the paper clip into the two holes on the harness.

4. Turn your ignition to Accessories (I believe that’s position II). Don’t start the car.

5. Watch code flashes. The standard lights with come on in the gauge cluster (oil, battery, seatbelt). After a second or two, the Check Engine Light will begin to flash. Each long flash is the first digit (tens), and each short flash is the second digit (ones).

6. Decipher the codes by using the Teg Tip : http://www.g2ic.com/tegtips/engine/13.html

Clearing up incorrect info

Just trying to clear up incorrect information. No green plugs and green boxes under the dash in a 92.
