on our teg tips someone did a how to on how to remove the cluster… unfortunately it has no pics and fairly vague…
i decided to take some pics so people can see the screws and not waste time and possibly break something trying to get the dash apart to get at the cluster.
here are pics, with arrows pointing to all the screws… tomorrow i’ll post the pics of swapping tach’s within the cluster.
It should be noted that you need to be ultra careful when disassembling the gauge cluster. If you touch the gauge faces or the overlay with your fingers, the oils on them will cause the matte finish on the overlay/faces to turn glossy. Don’t touch them, period.
Even latex gloves don’t prevent this from happening. You can polish off the matte finish and turn your gauge cluster glossy, but it’s time consuming and tedious. Nighttime visibility doesn’t suffer, though, and it looks damn good.
I also found it extremely difficult to get the clear plastic part of the cluster totally clean. No matter how hard I try, there always seems to be a stray finger print or dust inside the cluster. Anyone have any tips on getting the cluster interior clean?
Thought this warning may be helpful.
Also, here’s a great JDM parts place. Got my 92-93 XSi cluster in perfect condition from them. JDM Partz
