how to fix torn cv boot-=WARNING: extremely ghetto=-

so in my quest to fix teh boot (i refused to pay 80 for a new axle when just a stupid rubber boot tears), i finally have come across a decent way to patch it up.

get a replacement boot. 7$ at local parts store. get some grease- 1-3$. get your favorite kind of tape. duct, threaded, stranded, whatever you have lying around that can take the abuse and constant rotation.
take off the old boot, clean insides as much as you can. best would be to wash it out and use compressed air to dry it out.
use a spoon or gun and put some grease in the joint.
cut the boot lengthwise and wrap it around the joint. stuff grease in there. clean off the top and go nuts with your tape. watchout for unraveling. maybe you can use another 3" clamp to hold the end of the last strip.

yes its simple, but you dont wanna know what things i tried before it. yes it works. i did it shortly after i started to get the knocking sound, and it went away. its been like a month already. im dropped 1.8" on eibachs and agx’s with 15’s.

SCORE:: doing it ghetto: 1. doing it proper: 0

“i wun one. you won daddy? no, NINE ONE ONE!”

Honda says that after 4 hours of drivingwith a torn CV boot they will need to be replaced. Your just prolonging the inevitable…but you still get the points for being ghetto. Tape and/or a sledge hammer can fix anything.

4 hours well hell i have been going around for about a week witha torn boot. i just looked under the car last night (to see how bad i need a camber kit) not only is the boot torn but the one clpse to the motor is got a chunk missing too.:frowning: WTF… man i have no idea that that happened… *sigh… every time i turn around something els show up… how do you all fix your cars up? i cant even keep mine up to par… (ps what is a good camber kit)

i can give you points for the idea but they sell a thing at the parts store called a quick boot. it is a boot that is cut in half with two clamps to hold in place the sell for like 9-12 dollars depending on the store
