Here’s a mod for the RS guys, not sure if its been done yet?
I noticed the G2’s with sunroof got a map light, I deliver at night with my G2 and it was difficult for me to read paper work with no map light. So i took a trip to the local junk yard and pick up a map light from another G2 with sunroof, I noticed that ours don’t have it because the map light mounts on the sunroof assembly.
I could of gone with the G3 integra map lights which are slimmer and clip on with tabs. But I’ve already picked up the g2 map light and figured i’d try to keep everything original.
So here it is:
First you’ll want to make a template of the area you’ll need to be cutting.
Trace the template onto the roof liner and cut away with a razor
Test fit the map light and make any additional cuts if required
Now you’ll need to remove your dome light, you’ll be getting your power and ground source from here.
Solder a wire on the metal plate of your dome light (you’ll need a solder that can get pretty hot)
You’ll want to test the solder connection, I usually dangle it and tug lightly to make sure it made a good bond.
If you got the pig tail harness for the G2 map light
Black wire is ground, and White/Blue is your 12V
The white wire coming from the dome light harness is constant 12V (the green one is your door trigger)
Make a few holes onto the map light base for screws
Run the wires through the roof liner, now you’ll want to lightly screw the map light into the roof liner.
Pop the map light cover on, Quick test and we’re good to go!
